Aucky's Maroon-5 [more CS Mx-5 content]

Well, I caught CS-MX-5 fever.
After a few weeks of searching for a winter project I went to see a tidy MK2. Full of anticipation to drive one of the ‘greatest ever drivers cars’ shot down to the midlands with a pocket of cash.

5C02B98A-B5E9-42A3-A18A-03C6C26ACD33-697-000000406BA6A1CB_zps18585eee.jpg

However, despite being VERY tidy and well priced I couldn’t help but say to myself ‘is this it?’. Whilst very nice and sporty in a middle aged woman kind of way it was not nearly as inspiring as I inspected.
Taking into the account the general trend of newer α lardiness I continued the hunt, but for an MK1.
My search criteria was basically: JDM late import (as little rust as possible), Torsen LSD, reasonable mileage, Special marque if possible, mechanically sound, 1.8.

Soon after, I found an MK1 Eunos VR-Limited Combination A

The VR Ltd 1.8 Combination A, one of just 700 produced (In Japan).
Finished in ‘Art Vin Rouge’ paint with contrasting stone leather seats.
Mechanically identical to the Type II cars which means 133 bhp engine along with lightened flywheel, revised ECU and a Torsen limited slip differential with a 4.3:1 final drive ratio. The VR also has thicker anti-roll bars and lots of extra under-body bracing.
Many of the other unique VR Ltd features are cosmetic, mine has shiny alloy interior parts, kickplates, A/C etc

It was imported in 2007 and now standing at just 114k kM
And this is how it came:

Those chrome strips on the bumper made me feel ill. They had to go, quickly. Despite heathing they pull off some of the ageing clearcoat off with them 

Nice project, mods look spot on. Love the lazy eyes!

You going to get it dropped on it's arse or leave it at a useable height?

That is an awesome little thing! Love the steering wheel, some of those wheels look cack.

Stunning little thing, really shows how much a simple looking car can become mint with some "detail", painting grilles, paint correction et al.

Lovely mate, credit to you.

Love everything you've done mate, bar the wheels. Just don't suit it imo.

Any more pics of the whole car now?

Love that colour and great mods, what suspension you going for/got?

It's on Gaz fixed height, adjustable damping atm. I'm waiting for the new P5 suspension to come out and then I'll see.

Is this in addition to the Trophy or a replacement?

Addition

WOW! Didn't quite realise you'd done so much! Where did you get the low-pro's from? They're not RS-Actives are they?

They're made by Jass on mx5nutz

Might get some more this weekend, I'm drifting at Oulton tomorrow.

It need a respray! because of the above I'm waiting to see if rip it off first :)

Pics of the beige interior needed. As the thread was loading on my phone I had fingers crossed for a VR! I didn't think maroon was available anywhere else!

I like. Good looking thing!

Why the hell not? :D

I really like that! What plans you got for it? I here supercharger conversions are quite easy on these ;)

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
That's inspired me to do something to mine. Had coilovers and ARB's on the shelf since before Christmas. Let me know if you're after any Ultra-Racing stuff by the way, I've fitted the strut braces to mine already, just need some new drop links for the ARBs

Mods are costing me enough as it is!

I don't normally like these. They tend to look like hairdressers cars. This one however is bloody epic!!

I love it!

Good job aucky!!

Good luck today dude hope you have a good time and it looks ace love the lights and you've made me start looking agian ;( would be perfect with a little more lows and I'd really like to ggo for a little spin with you one day!

  Mk1 MX-5 (x3), Westy

Error! It'll be so filthy by the end of the day, haha.

Looks great by the way, nice little touches. If you plan to actually drive it rather than cruise around in McDonalds car park I'd leave the ride height as it is, on fun twisty roads it gets too crashy with really low suspension. For track stuff obviously you can afford to go lower / stiffer though.
