audio people.....what amp for this sub?

may be able to source this for very little cost, just wondered what amp to power it, i dont want to spend a fortune on one so a new or 2nd hand one would be fine

Amps should be roughly half the power of the peak power of the sub.

I have a 1000w infinity sub and run it with a 400w jbl amp.

You need to look at RMS figures for both the sub and amp, peak wattage means nothing at all. You should use an amp with a greater than or at least equal to RMS figure as the sub,

Thats what i was taught as an audio fitter years ago, but maybe years ago is the downfall of that statement im talking 10 years ago

the sub is 200w rms @ 4ohms, so looking for an amp that would power it,

So look for an amp at around the 200w mark.

The sub linked to is actually a 4ohm dual voice coil sub, so the coils wired in parallel would present a 2ohm overall impedance.....

Unfortunately this means most 2ch amps can't be bridged to run it, so I would be looking for a small mono amp capable of delivering at least 300w rms into a 2ohm load.....

Amp choice is governed by budget.....

I would suggest you check out JBL amps, quite possibly the best mix of power, reliability & price available at the moment....
