Auxiliary Belt Question?

  2002 Clio 1.5 DCi
Hello

dropped the wee clio dci (mk2) in to get new timing belt, water pump and aux belt fitted todY

got a phone call to say the auxiliary belt had an issue, where the AC would be (mine doesn't have) the mechanic told me there is a simple idler/pully that is hanging off?

Im im not sure how this is possible as the car never had a noise and if the pully was "hanging off" the belt would be loose and it would squeal.

well does anyone actually know what this is as I've been told by mechanic to get my hands on one for him to replace as he said he won't be able to get it???

sounds like he has broke it to be honest but what's done is done

if anyone knows what this is could you please inform me

thanks

  Many.
It is exactly what he says, a idler that does nothing other than route the belt. Not relevent to you but it has 6 grooves for the belt, so put the belt on wrong and you'll need a new belt very quickly.

I probably have one from converting my DCi to Aircon, but postage is unliekly to be cheap.

thats what what I needed to confirm exactly what it was so I can find the part for him to fit tomorrow before I get the car back.

looks like a wee trip to the scrap yard for me tomorrow then.
