Aydon's Clio 182 *New Member*

Hello fellow members!

I am very new to the clio scene as i have only owned my clio 182 3 weeks now, and i am more than impressed by the car!
I managed to get a hold of my Artic Blue Clio 182 with 50,608mls 3 owners 04 reg full service history very clean inside and out, it has both cup packs (FF) the car is completely standard by renault has no aftermarket parts apart from the cd player and uprated speakers (Kenwood) and very good history i picked it up for £3,500 and it was MOT'd the day before i bought it so i got 12 months MOT on her, 6 months tax.
Dunno if this was a good deal or not but i certainly DO NOT regret paying the money, this car is amazing to drive and i cant stop driving it!
i managed to rack up 850 mls in the first 2 weeks of owning it lol!

Anyways, a little bit about me (i wont rant) im 21 and my previous two cars were a nissan micra 1.3 LX and a peugeot 106 1.1 independance, so this is quite an upgrade lol. i was gunna go for the fiesta ST but i decided on a 182 instead, i hope i made the right choice , from what ive heard the 182 is in a different league from the fiesta ST so all seems well.

So there she is.. My artic blue clio 182 FF

Upcoming modifications..

- YozzaSport Exhaust
- Sports Decat (Not sure which one yet, what do you guys recommend?)
- ITG Panel filter
- Strut Braces front and back
- Drilled and grooved brake discs and pads (still deciding which)
- carbon fibre interior trim
- steering wheel retrim (melted :( )
- NGK Spark Plugs
- Possible remap not sure
+ loads of other little modifications I will keep you guys updated.

Nice car, get a new header tank and flush the coolant, that bottle does the bay no favours.

Welcome to the club, car looks good.

Some nice suggestions, especially changing the coolant bottle, that'd really freshen up the bay with minimal effort.


Also, drilled/grooved discs on the clio are pretty much regarded as a waste of time. Go for Brembo HC discs, (there's a guy on here that does them silly cheap in the traders section) and if you don't mind splashing out on pads, then go for ferredo DS2500, they come at a price, but combining those two (for fronts) and a standard rear brake setup is generally regarded as the way forward.

Yes, don't get drilled discs as they just end up cracking.

I made almost the same car move going from a 106 1.1l Independence to a 172.

Instead of the front and rear strut braces which won't do much get a Whiteline ARB.

I've read the 182 cat is quite good so a sports cat won't make much difference..

@Keiran I am from Maidstone mate literally next door to chatam/Rochester. Do you go to Medway industrial estate on Friday nights? I'll be there tonight look out for the only artic blue 182 that goes lol.
@Chrisjk is there a guide to doing this mate? Knowing me I'll **** it right up! But I definatly wanna do it now, cheers.
@Rob&Atouba thanks for that I'll defo look into the brembo discs now, do those pads come in yellow by any chance? I've got this thing about getting yellow pads on my car think it looks mint lol. And I will defo look into the whiteline anti roll bushes.

It's an Anti Roll Bar mate not bushes. DS2500 are black not yellow unfortunately.

I just saw mate thanks, is the whiteline anti roll bar easy to Fit yourself or is it a mechanic job? I'm thinking about brembo hc discs all round and yellow stuff pads? Sound ok? Cheers, Aydon

Might be a silly suggestion, we'll see, but...

Why not buy the right pads pads (as opposed to any old thing because it's a certain colour) then spray just the outside (OBVIOUSLY) yellow with some high temp paint? If the high temp paint is good for callipers and engine blocks then surely it can cope with the heat in the pads (which will be more than in the callipers, but we're not talking a 1000 deg celsius F1 brakes here. Most VHT paint is good to ~600 deg celsius anyway.)

P.S. Car looks great, are those some really subtle tints on the back though? I don't remember mine being that dark (Mind you I had a "Black Gold" 182 so admittedly would've been less likely to notice if they were a bit darker than the fronts as standard)

Lol hey guys thanks for more warm welcomes, just got back from Medway lol it was nuts two guys in old ford capri's were drifting round the corner , completely insane lol. No other clio's except me tho! ;(

ive seen a really low ph1 there with orange f1's i think cant remember off top of my head, was that dude there with that naughty mk2 escort? alot of old bill turn up again like a few weeks back?

Lol there was a beastly mk2 escort cosworth with massive White oz alloys, the old bill weren't there last night at all it was pretty good I had a tear up with a new golf r32 and he was trying hard but couldn't get rid of me :p

It was made by A14 exhausts in Bury st Edmunds. It will cost you around £130. Perfect fit and lifetime guarantee.

Videos never do exhausts justice, its better in the flesh

Hi all just a quick update, I'm going to be making my first official modifications to the car at the end of this month but need a little advice from you experienced clio owners so here it is.
I'm looking to update the spark plugs with either of these.

These were the original choice from reviews and such I've read you can't go wrong with the NGK PLATINUM PFR6e10's however browsing through K-tec's site I found these;

So has anyone personally used these plugs or shall I just stick with the NGK PLATINUM's?
The Second modification I'm looking to make at the end of this month is either of these two..

the ITG panel filter was my original option however I'm looking to improve performance over everything else, and ktec claim the ITG MAxogen carbon induction kit can give you gains of up to 7bhp by utilising only cold air feed directly to the engine. So those are the two modifications I'm looking to make. Now I just rely on you guys experience to help me make the right choices also here's a little list of new mods to come.
- Magnecor ignition leads
- 2118's with polarised wheel bolts (yes inspired by ollie, it looks great)
- one of the final mods I'm considering after the exhaust and everything is;
Cat camshafts with a remap to suit. Hoping to get my clio to 190-200bhp by summer next year.
Also am getting her serviced at the end of the month and investing in a snowfoam lance and some decent wax and polish. Thanks for reading, Aydon.

- Uprated Spark Plugs
- Brembo HC discs with DS2500 pads
- Uprated brake calipers
- Braided brake hoses
- Whiteline ARB
- Front Strut Brace
- ITG Maxogen induction kit
- YozzaSport system Decat or Catback (coming soon)
- Matched Inlets
- Magnecor Ignition leads
- also there is alot I don't have time to list such as carbon trims, new sound system, changing coolant bottle and probably coolant hoses, also speedlines etc etc.

Also any input on my previous thread would be appreciated , thanks, Aydon.

goodies sound good too but i wouldnt spend money on a maxogen kit. although it looks good and im sure sounds nice it doesnt do the figures k-tec state and is silly money. stick with a panel filter and remove the acoustic valve for extra noise.

Thx mate think I will stick to the ITG panel filter then :)

ITG panel, but remove the actual feed to the box. They breath better without it, and it sounds a bit fruitier too

Car looks awesome mate and the mods will be nice :) You said you are 21, what's your insurance like if you don't mind me asking? Im 20 and stuck with a 1.4 Mk2 Ph1 for now and looking for a 182 next year

£1800 fully comp, bit expensive but thought f*** it, I want a quick car not another 1.3 Micra lol

EDIt: I have done a fair few bits to the car now , and will be updating with pics soon, car is going up to k-tec at the end of January to have the 438 cams package, hoping to see in the 190's Mark with the current mods so well see.

Thought the insurance would be a lot worse tbh, I've got to say that is some step-up :p
