B2 questions

Decided to finally get an origin b2, but just a few questions.

1) has the new version got a seperate laser detector which can be mounted seperate from the main unit? i dont want the device mounted on the top of the dash.

2) Where have people put the detector. My windscreen has a small section with no UV filter but it appears that the wipers are in the way when looking throught it?

3) Where have u put the other bits such as the GPS antenna and the actual device itself? pics would be great!

4) is the device easily removable when parking the car in a dodgy area?

Cheers all!

You should have said something at the weekend. You could have had a look at where mine is located.

1) The laser detector is seperate

2) Picture to come. Laser passes through the UV coating apparently, but radar wouldnt if you had a radar detector.

3) GPS receiver is on rear side window ledge on the drivers side.

4) The b2 unit itself sits in a small craddle so you can just lift it out and put it in your pocket.

Dam, I just typed a response and got Service unavailable again.

No, mine is just plugged into the fag lighter with the cable running out the back of the cup holders.

Has hard wired his in. Its really easy, but you do need an inline fuse.

£349.99 from http://www.radardetectors.co.ukwww.radardetectors.co.uk

They are a certified reseller so you get the full warranty which you dont get from elsewhere.

just had a thought... if i was to leave this plugged in all the time, will it use the battery when the engines off? i might just be being stupid

Nah, cus you connect it so it only comes on with the ignition.

Malice, as Yoz says, I drive both my 1.2 and Williams.. and I also have access to other cars which I drive. Id also want to be able to take it when other people are driving their own cars.. its just a useful bit of kit to have. Ok, so eventually I wont have both my 1.2 and Williams, and itll be in the Williams 90% of the time, but I still want to be able to put it in other cars.

It would be nice, like the new Road Angel, to just unsucker it from my windscreen and put it in any car easily.. without any wires apart from the power cord.

Plus you can set it to auto power-off after say, 20 minutes

so plugging it into the fag lighter... it wont use any power when the ignition is off? i dont know how the fag lighter power works.

Fag lighter only works on ignition.. or at least, it does on the Mk1 Clios.

ahh ok daz fair enuff... didnt realise u had both cars still, spose within theory u could make it so all the sensors etc are easy toremove so would take 10 mins to moove about but still not as easy as a plug in road angel...

and yoz no need to be such an arse about is it is there.... i asked daz not u :p

But it would be untidy. If I had the Origin, everything would be under the dash.. with nothing showing apart from the GPS mouse, Laser Detector and the actual Cradle/Origin. And then, it wouldnt be a matter of just moving one thing and it all working straight away. :(

Looking at the Origin, I am tempted and only use it in the one car.. does loads more and has a really nice screen - Ill have to think about it, hehe.

I dont know, but its worth asking him about it as they arent the most robust bits of kit!
