Kyle, I'm very sorry to hear of the problems you've experienced but glad you've had them rectified and the car is now running well. :) I can't say I'm shocked or surprised... but I am sorry it's happened again and that it happened to you. I'm no expert by any means, but if you are looking to potentially go down the legal proceedings route then be prepared for a lot of hassle, dealings with people who won't have a clue what you are on about, and the very real possibility that you may be hit even harder in the wallet. It might be a bitter pill to swallow now, but better in the long run, if you take it on the chin (like you have), record the experience with evidence (like you have) and then move on. All in my opinion of course. :)

I had a great day thanks, Kyle! :) I hope you enjoyed it too. I was very ill once I got back home to Wales though. I guess that's what happens when you've been sat/stood around in cold and wet clothes for 14 hours or so! Rob Austin - what a thoroughly nice bloke. Anyways, I'll leave it there so as not to go off-topic. Whatever you decide to do next, best of luck mate!

Im sure a small claims court could work in your favour.
Here is the work, will bills signing off work. Here are my problems, xyz. Here is the phone calls relating to it, xyz. Here is another garages findings, here are the costings. xyz. Here is why I am felling let down and scared/hurt/upset to trust a company when I paid, xyz for them.

£70 for a Small claims court, if you don't win, only £70 lost.

He has no chance as they will say "was original garage given the chance to rectify the fault and any issues arising from the fault"

and he will say "no" and they will throw it out.

We have of course been made aware of this thread.

We would always urge customers who have any concerns about any work that we have carried out to contact us directly, we pride ourselves in our levels of customer service along with the quality of our work. The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 gives the consumer the right to ensure any work carried out, if proven to be substandard, is rectified without cost. We would always advise customers to exercise this right if they feel this is the case.

To add the facts to some of the fiction found in this thread, please find a summary of our operating guidelines:

Things we do do:

> Make every effort to ensure all work is carried out the highest standard
> Remap each car on an individual basis to achieve the best performance and reliability for the customer
> Issue a 12 month warranty on all our drive in drive out performance upgrades, entirely underwritten by ourselves
> Have over 12 years experience as Renault Specialist and over 100 years experience accumulatively amongst our staff
> Use Genuine Renault timing tools and parts on all our timing belt / camshaft replacement jobs
> Ensure the customer is entirely satisfied with any work carried out
> In the event of an issue, we will always try to resolve it to the customers satisfaction, providing we are given the opportunity to do so

Things we don't do:

> Carry out substandard work
> Refuse to offer to look at customers cars if they have a query or concern about any element of work which we have carried out
> Allow cars to leave after mapping without having logged knock, AFR and checked the vehicle on the road
> Fob customers or traders off with inaccurate information or point blame in another direction
> Criticise work from other Specialists / Traders to the customer, especially to the point of hysteria
> Make customers sign non disclosure agreements

If any customers have any concerns regarding work already carried out or planned in the future do not hesitate to contact either myself or David directly and we will be only to pleased to talk to you either by email or over the phone.

As nice as your massively generic post is, you seem to have failed to elaborate as to why none of these "operating guidelines" have been adhered to on the OP's car...

Be nice to hear KTEC's version of events to get a balance. Then people can make their own judgements for future. It's only fair to hear both sides of a story.

Their version is that they dont do shoddy work ever.

Despite the members of this site alone having a fair number of examples of them doing so.

So I guess they simply dont realise they are doing it, and when they send these cars out the door, they honestly do believe they have done a good job.

Which TBH gives less hope of them sorting stuff out in the future, than if they came on and said "sometimes when really overbooked we have been guilty of rushing a job through a bit and consequently it might not be as good as it could be"
Because if Ellens/Kyles etc cars are examples of Ktec thinking they have done the job right its obviously just a plain lack of understanding on their part of what a good job actually is in the first place rather than that very human thing of occasionally cutting a few corners if over worked which Im sure we have all done in our jobs from time to time.

Typical of them. There are many cases like mine but we all get fobbed off. Theres no way the files can match that of another tuner otherwise cases like mine & many others wouldn't go through this. My advice would be to sack your mapper for starters.

Guys, can I ask those who have had issues with the 438 / mapping package from k-tec contact Sean. I know of 4 (mine, Kyles, Ellen's and Tommy G). Any others, please contact Sean.

I just spoke with him. I'll update this thread further when I can.

Things we say we don't do but actually do do:

> Carry out substandard work - Need I list them all?
> Allow cars to leave after mapping without having logged knock, AFR and checked the vehicle on the road If this is the case this and quite a few other threads would never have been posted
> Fob customers or traders off with inaccurate information or point blame in another direction Lambda.
> Criticise work from other Specialists / Traders to the customer, especially to the point of hysteria Blaming the RSTuner maps etc for things they don't even effect
> Make customers sign non disclosure agreements Forgotten about Ellen, or are you not allowed to talk about it?

I think there's fairly conclusive evidence that all the above have occurred to K-Tec customers. Why come on here and lie about it? What possible difference could lying in the face of the evidence make?

Thanks Oli for letting us know, I have contacted Sean.
I'm sure many of you read the thread concerning my car after I had the 438s and the remap fitted. Almost exactly the same issue as Kyle with the same responses from Ktec. Luckily we know Mike Woodford through cliosport.net otherwise i can safely say my car would be scrap metal/plastic by now.

Response is exactly as expected tbh, generic marketing fluffy latte drinking talk and to be blunt, lies.

For one, I've seen one of the NDA's in the paper.

I've also spent time with two K-tec mapped cars. Both using RX8 levels of oil.

  A special one.
Anyway OT, I hope that the people who are involved get some kind of compensation back from ktec, even if its there labour fee.

And no ktec not a free gift voucher for a rolling road session.

Just read though the whole tread. Seems shocking really that a company that is self portrayed as one of the leading Renault specialists in the U.K. can damage its own reputation so easily . I drive past there work shop most mornings and the car park is always full so potentially people are getting mugged off daily . The mind boggles . Good service = customer satisfaction and repeat business simples .

I have emailed Sean asking for my afr log as there wasn't one on the rolling road graph like they said.

Sorry Ktec but this is where you are boying people off here, so in short.. if someone isn't happy..... you refuse to to fix or acknowledge the fact something is wrong and tell them their rights, which means you tell them to go down the legal route to get somewhere being in full knowledge that 99.99% of customers simply wont and they'll suck it up and go elsewhere and rant on CS about it, forking out even more money?????

Do I really need to mention my Colleagues Megane 225 who has been a very loyal customer to you for years and been fucked about?

And don't quote the law please, the Black Clio 182 with 172 wheels with center caps missing you loan to people isn't even road legal, Clearly not a company that cares about it's clients when they can get pulled because you go decatting courtesy cars.

I think you need to look at your operation listed and maybe work on them

How can a specialist make such mistakes, instead of spewing out the crud above how about being a little proactive and contacting your customer and maybe explain how such a **** up can occur?

Maybe offer a good will gesture, personally I wouldn't return a vehicle for work to rectify such a mistake, how can he have any confidence in your work after such issues?
