I also see f**king astras with lotus badges on just because there is some affiliation between the two, dicks!
Hmmmm I noticed the same thing on a Vaxhall once, think it was a Carlton (one of those big old ones) it was green had big old wheels and a body kit, looked quite smart if a bit big.

Mind you it took off like a rocket!

Strange

(please note this is joke I know exactly what it was and how rare they are!)

all turbos have wastegates. If they didnt theyd blow your engine up. (it limits the boost pres. by opening or fluttering "ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch") They tend to do this more when youve upped the boost, for example my friends pulsar only started to make the "ch ch ch ch" noise when he got a hybrid turbo running higher boost. Rally cars make the best noise when turbos are concerned (cover your ears!)

matblack, that would be the Lotus Carlton you are thinking of there. probably the finest car ever built. Anything the Police try to ban is good in my book! What was it, 180mph fully loaded up? They made the tank on them small enough so that before the diff could over heat you would run out of fuel, now that a fecking quick car!

Lotus Talbot Sunbeam was one of the best Lotus affiliations, mental little 2 litre car for it time!

Have you seen when people take later model escorts (like Mk 4 shape - rs turbo/xr3i etc) and convert them to RWD? Theres a proper name for the conversion but i cant think what it is...

Gartrac ?

Yeah the Carlton was an absolute monster. They are fecking expensive still. And are quick as feck. Been out in one once. ummm fast. They done a test in an EVO mag a while back, put it up agaisnt some beasts. Faired well just a bit dated.

Yeah dont think the police like them very much!!

The police loved em but only when they were driving them!

Lotus Carlton was indeed a great car though, we used to lust after them when I was a kid.

5 seats and room for luggage for a weeks holiday and at the time they would blow away most of the available super cars.

Ive only seen two on the road but they have some presence, wide arches and big tyres.

Now I feel they are a little dated

i got a nice illuminouse pink italicTurbo badge from halfords the other day. Reckon ill stick it on the back untill i get the car resrayed.

People will then be even more suprised when i beat them.

Skip the dump valve, get a waste gate. (that is the one that makes a little chirrup sound isnt it?)
Well... Id like to see a turbo without a wastegate...

You need one! ;)

Years ago a friend had a Vauxhaull Carlton or was it a Cavalier? Anyway it had all those extras like wide wheels and two small Lotus badges on it. Its not style of car but it was aLotus version and was quite rapid indeed! Prob worth a few quid these days. He then had a Talbot Sunbeam (Lotus Version) and that was a hand full (Oh I remember those days).

lol yeah all turbos have wastegates, it not actually the wastegate making the chatter noise.

when the throttle is snapped shut, the air in the inlet pipes rushes back towards the turbo and it gets chopped by the turbo blades, making the chatter noise.

If you have a dump valve it just releases the pressure as the tiisshhhhhh.

Every standard turbo car does it. but you only hear it on ones where the air filter is attached straight on the turbo - Fiesta Turbo, Cosworths etc You only hear it when a cone filter is used as it amplifies the sound.:D

haha i seen a car once think it was a knacked nisan or something and the owner had chopped up some letters and it said .. NISAN NAIL it made the car so much cooler!

i still like the 1.2 dynamique (spelling) which is a y reg with clio cup in the back window, and a sport badge,

for those who havent seen it its monaco blue,

so its totally the wrong colur blue

it has night rider strobes in the grille now ,

what a piece of sh*t

(and if it belongs to any one on here please sort it out)

cos you aint fooling no one !

Know what u mean by badging cars. My Fiesta has no other badges other than a 2.0 badge on the back, ok as it is a 2.0. Wouldnt badge it RS though. On an old standard Orion I used to own, me and some mates put a RS badge on the back of it, just for comedy value.

Also, Ive seen a 1.2 Clio with majorly oversized Williams badge on the back. Was a ph3, steel wheelse etc.

I only have a Williams Badge on the door, a 172 Cup Badge on the tailgate and a Renault Sport badge also on the tailgate on my 1.2..

Also, got some 16v side strip badges too...

Does look good though!

ah ha - thanks markRS, i always wondered what/how it really made the noise! i just tried to make a logical guess! oops!

We have a Renault Sport badge on our super 1600 16V - whos gonna argue with that ?- and no it isnt a 172 copy BTW - Renault sport prepare the super 1600 rally cars with 1.6 litre engines tuned to 220BHP - thats what were planning to do - remember its Renault Sport and then clio the company not Renault Clio sport the car........

I think some of you are a lil harsh... So what if someone wants to badge there car up differently (might have actually had an engine conversion, lol...)

And cat171 if that peep was on Clio Sport... How sh*t would your last comment made em feel...

Each to their own i say...

:devilish:

So shouldnt you get a badge saying cupsize sport as renault sport arent preparing the car? Does having a fast clio automatically mean its a sport model! No! ;)

Rob, I advise you not to get in an argument about what makes a car "sporty".. its long and nasty - and most importantly, people dont listen to ya! :)

As I always say, putting a Cosworth Engine inside a Reliant Robin doesnt make it a Sports Car...

Daz.

lol well the official names for the Cup and 172 is the Renault Sport Clio 172. The V6 is also called the Renault Sport Clio V6. Now there is also the Clio Sport range which consists of the dynamique, the dynamique + and the billabong/extreme. So some lesser models are sport models but not the proper renault sport.

I know, and Ive told everyone before..

(Renault Clio Sport != Renault Sport Clio) but (Sport == Sport).

Daz.

Well ive put V6 badges all over my 1.2 16v and selotaped 2 toilet rolls sprayed silver each side of my bumper after cutting 2 holes in it with a stanley knife.... It looks well good mate... Im thinking of getting it in max power soon.... The only black V6 Clio.... I think im going to find some shoe boxes to copy the V6 body kit exactly.... People will think ive got a V6 but really its a 1.2 16v.... Mate im the lick!!
