Ball Joint

  www.renparts.co.uk
Got a N/S lower ball joint gone on my mk2 ph2 1.4 16v. Motorsave diagnosed it and they showed my the play in it as well. and got me a price one one. Joint was £10 and fitting was £20. does this sound reasonable? also they said the tracking will need doing after fitting, is this correct?
thanks
josh

Sounds good its not difficult to do it yourself only three bolts you need to undo assuming its not chuck solid.
Tracking shound't need doing but worht checking for £20 to fit it I'd do it myself.

can't be arsed with the effort, does it involve taking the shocker out etc? Hate anything to do with suspension always end up wrecking CV boots when trying to force the shocker back in. Think im going to pay and have it done for a change. Shall i just tell them not to bother with the tracking then? ive only had it done last month!.

Nope, remove the wheel then at the bottom of the hub there a bolt which rns front to back on the car take this out the undo the two bolts which hold the ball joint to the suspension arm (17mm bolt and 16mm nut from memory) then take the old hub off and put the new one in and tigthen the botls up again.

Wheather you've had the tracking done or not won't matter it only matter of if its correct after the ball joints been changed. Renault don't for memory do tracking after doing ball joint.
