Battery Light

hey people,

Well my batery light on the dash board keeps coming on and than going off and sometimes not coming on at all. The battery in a year old and been checked and i have been told it is fine!? My altenator has also been checked and the belt has been changed so that is fine too.

My car has been in a body shop for about two weeks so i thought it may be the something to do with the battery charging as it has the imobilizer and alarm draining it for the past few weeks.

Im puzzled as i know its nothing major. What do you guys think it could be.!?

so its nothing bad then! how can a sort it so as it dont keep coming on and off!? well the battery is reading at 12 keeps , the guy said that there may be a drain in the altenator but then he said its fine!

Battery is ok at anything between 12 - 13 when engine not running. Should goto about 14.4 with engine running, drop a bit with fans, heater, lights all on etc..

ok cheers guys, also thought a bit of moisture on battery, but nope very dry, oh well will look at the weekend, as long as its nothing harsh that will kill my car!. Well i know its not me altenator cause like i said its been checked!!

Cheers

Moisture on battery shouldnt make much difference... I wouldnt have thought.

Could be dodgy earth if Alternator is ok.

oh yeah check that the termininals are making a good contact with the battery posts this can give u a dodgey connection to make a good earth follow the neg lead to the base then remove bolt clean area and lead that u disconnected reassemble.

check the battery water should b above then plates in teh battery DONT NOT OVER FILL

  172 cup,s2 rs turbo

check battery water level, battery connections, engine earths, alternator connections especially the connector block, aux belt tension and the charging rate @the battery(between 13v and 14.7v)

Well just found out its my alteernator! iWISH IT WAS A BAD EARTH car just cut out a t a junction yest as their was no battery charge. *Well gutted* cant beleive ive had so many things go wrong all at the same time anyone would think i was a millionaire with the amount ive spent this month Mot, startermotor, clutch. So when the altemator is geting fixed, reconditioned, whatever im gonna get the PAS Pump sorted too as i think they are all connected or in same area so labour should be the same. Then going to sell car is just too much trouble
