Battlefield 1943

Initally it was pap as it was so damn laggy it wasn'y worth playing. However, they sorted the servers for a period and it was very playable. I found it to be a cross between BF2 and BF: Bad Company, which is a good thing.
In previous BF games, tanks etc have been really hard, and infantry was a very underpowered class however in 1943 they have the balance right. They have retained the squad spawns which can be used to turn a game very quickly.
Planes are quite tough to get the hang of however once the skills have been mastered they are actually quite fun. I'm still yep to get the bomb drop spot on but its coming, dog fighting is also very cool.
I'm a BF addict, but from my point of view its well worth 1200 MS points. As soon as they sort out the server issues it'll be awesome, I think they really underestimated the popularity.
My two pence.
Really, the tank is simple, same as in every other FPS on a console, the plane admittly takes some getting used to, but once you have mastered the controls it feels OK
It is possible to join games you just have to keep trying.

Sniper Rifle makes you reload all 5 bullets every time even if you have only fired 1 shot
Rifle seems a little under powered
Graphics are pretty good as far as Arcade titles go. Once you finally get into a room there is little or no lag. As people have said planes take abit of getting used to and the bullet timing over distance but that all part of the learning curve. Once the servers are sorted and you can join with your friends easily there are some hours to be lost on this. Playing this last night some of the things really make you laugh out loud.

played the tutorial after buying, is really good.
the thing i love about battlefield is the sound effects, there much better than COD for atmosphere really good distance effects and environment echo/doppler so feels like a real battle.
also destructable stuff is cool and for a cheap game download i think the graphics are pretty good in some place, big and fun.
problem was i couldnt get online at all, and im puling my hair out at EA Online, one of the biggest gaming compaines in the world with the worst service ! always the same.
COD4,COD5 servers can handle hundreds of thousands of players yet EA struggle to do more than 10 players on there 8mb Hewlett Packard Pentium 60
i wouldnt have bought it if it wasnt for the fact COD5 has been done to death and i have all the map packs and im now back on the superior COD4

After playing BF Bad Company I would've bought any game with that engine for multiplayer. Such a brilliant game.
HOWEVER. After a few months the lag kicked in, and I couldn't play a normal game, it wasn't just me either. Plenty of others had problem having a normal game, so I got rid and I'm never buying another EA FPS again. (Unless there's cold hard evidence there are no problems with the online)

Bad Company is lag free for me, still play it as its great. Downloaded the PS3 demo of 1943 earlier from the Jap store and its great fun

forgot to mention kind of reminds me of delta force, i used to love the open nature and the hiding in the grass and stuff, even able to sneak up on people due to the voxel landscape, if 1943 was a bit more tactical and slower it would be perfect for me

Read the second page ya lazy bugger. There's a demo on PSN, not sure what it has, I guess one island. I'm well looking forward to it but am off on hols tomorrow so will have to wait.
Got a few games in earlier but as now server overload EA = FAIL!!!!
Have to say what I played was laggy but very fun, the anti aircraft guns are ace

Is it just me or are the graphics a lot worse than battlefield bad company - the graphics could have been so much better and do sour the game somewhat!

I heard the graphics were remarkably good though for what is an exclusively DLC game? Also heard there were a few minor glitches but none that ruin the game. IGN gave it 8.5 and said that if you like online shooters this is wortwhile. As I skipped COD5 I may give this a go while I wait for COD6.
Depends what you compare it too, don't forget its also on the PSN and there are some damn fine looking games on there (GT5p for one!). Also the lost and the damned add ons for GTA4 on live and they looked good too - just took longer to load.
The whole Battlefield 1943 is just over 500 megs and yes they have squeezed a lot in, I just can't but help think they could have made a beautiful looking game that takes a tad longer to download.
From what I played it was real fun though and yep pick it up as your already on my firends list!

I think they are taking into account its an entirely DLC game though, where as the GTA content is an extension based on existing game and engine. If it was being judged as a "proper" retail game then sure it would be a bit lower.

bearing in mind it is a 500mb download and not a multiple gb dvd then it is good.
The graphics werent great but that is due to filesize imo.
I thought the gameplay was really good, I have played BF2 (on pc) and I felt like I knew where I was (although I have spent a lot of time on CoD to 'learn' how to use a controller for FPS)
I will probably buy it soon
