belts and dephaser??

Can someone list me all the parts i would need to get the belts and dephaser done,pulleys,guides etc.

I will be sourcing these from various places along with renault for the dephaser.

PS: If i supply ALL the parts,how much roughly do you think it would cost for someone to fit them.

I don't mind travelling if it's a same day thing but obviously not too far..i'm based in hertfordshire but work near High wycombe.

Ive just bought both belts and the tensioners etc (non cup) with the dephasor from Adam, just over 300 quid for the lot.

Probably work out dearer for you to buy and then take to have fitted than to just pay the specialist fitting them to source the parts as well though, so is there any reason for you not just booking it in and getting them to supply and fit the parts?

You'll get no warranty worth anything I suspect either as if there is a failure the parts supplier will blame fitting and the fitter will blame the parts!

Why not just get a quote from a specialist ? It'll save you sourcing the parts etc.

because i work at a garage and get discount for parts so it would save me money that way.

the guys at work would fit them too but i think i would rather get a specialist too fit them.

Do you get discount from renault or are you planning on using pattern parts?

If pattern then check with the specialist they are happy with that.


If I was a specialist though and you brought me the parts, Id still want to make the same money as if I was supplying the parts, so would price the labour to take into account any profit on the parts I normally make as well, so unless you get better discount than the specialists do, it would save you nothing and jeopardise the warranty situation?

Cambelt kit INC idlers/tensioners
Aux belt kit INC idelers/tensioners
Dephasor pulley
Seal that goes behind dephasor pulley (comes in cambelt kit normally)
Cam seals in the other end of the head where the timing tool goes

Thats all I can think of off hand, although Ive got a couple to do in the next couple of weeks so will let you know if I have forgotten anything as its about a year since I last did one.

Or ask the specialist you are intending to go to what parts they want you to supply?

Normally done in a day, assuming it all goes to plan.

MWM are in staines, not too far away down the M40 south.
BTM in birmingham if you head the other way.

Not personally aware of anyone trustworthy more local than that.

Im sure you will not find a specialist on here who is willing to fit part's that you have supplied.

Not for other people. Just on my cars or engines I build for people.

Tbh I hate doing it in the car as it's fiddly when you aren't used to it and nearly always when I do it (like both the ones I've got to do soon) are out of the car on an engine stand. It's a piece of cake like that as so much easier to get to everything.

This is my list I've recently bought from Adam at renault Wolverhampton off here!
Cam belt kit
Aux belt kit
Dephaser pulley
Dephaser pulley bolt and seal kit
Water pump
Coolant
Bottom engine pulley and bolt (looks like it's starting to perish so may as well)

I think that's pretty much the most you would ever need! Cost me £515!

Mine cost about £300 in genuine parts and around £250 in labor for fitting, it memory serves i think my kit can from Wolverhampton.
