Best bore size for clio 172 exhaust

Booked my car in for an AAS exhaust (custom) for june 17th and was speaking to the guy who works there. They always recommend using a 2.25 bore size on a clio 172 including 2.25 through the back box aswell. These guys really know there stuff and was telling me about a 200+ bhp clio rally car they had in which went from a 2.5" to a 2.25" bore and gained power due to it.

Im just looking for some kind of feedback from people who have SS exhausts and what bore size are your exhausts? And is there any optimum size for a near enough standard 172 exhaust bore?

i have the orbisoud race exhaust from 2006 cup racer and that is 2.25 bore all the way mate, good enough for cup racer good enough for me

I had my exhaust done at AAS aswell, Barron. After being advised on here that a 2.5" was best I spoke to them and they gave me the exact same story. As you say they do know their stuff so I ended up getting a 2.25" bore system fitted.

What sort of thing have you asked for?

Charlie at Prospeed does them at 2.25'' Ktec is 2.5'' iirc

Had a ktec stealth originaly and then went prospeed, little smoother in the mid range. No idea on power tho

would this be different say if sumone was running throttle boddies and sumone running standard or cams? like 2.5 if had boddies and 2.25 with standard or cams?

i had a 2.5 on my ph1, and 2.25 on my ph2 - no difference at all

Is it not the old saying of ''do you want it loud or quiet'' ?? It was when i got one of their back boxes

2.5 for ''gains'', standard bore for standard performance

My old old old 172 went for a custom exhaust and the guy that made it said it should be 2.25'' unless it was running 300hp!
