Thats a bad move.I think the customers who gave him this feed back were kids wanting more stuff to do on there new ps3's as opposed to millions who have already got HD tv's.

Its got nothing to do with if you have an HD telly, blu-ray is HD as well. its just going to annoy those who spent stupid amounts on an HD-DVD player or teh 360 add-on. as a bluray fan myself im delighted

Bluray is better technically, so its not a blow in my eyes, with the increase of multiple format players, i doubt in will make any noticeable impact to consumers.

great wonderfull makes no odds to me i have neither:rasp:

tbh i dont care what wins i just want one to win now so we can actually get on and develop the s**t to make it better anyway the shelf life for bluray isnt aslong as dvd so we will have this trouble again in a few years

It's a strange one this, BD is still as yet an unratified standard technically, the 1st gen standalone players don't and possibly won't support BD-Java, the titles are more difficult to produce and cost more to produce and the standalone players cost much more than HD-DVD players
Whereas HD-DVD has it's house in order, ratified from day 1, firmware updates seemingly every month
It would seem that the PS3 has made a significant impact on this
Think they've made this decision a bit early tbh

i don't care as i have both players and the HD-DCD only cost £110 so no major loss.

I will say that when offered the same title on both formats i always go blu-ray but thats because i prefer the pretty blue boxes and my PS3 is a hell of a lot quieter than the 360.

The quality of movies had tended to be better on HD-DVD though even though they have the smaller disc as they seem to be using the better codecs, well definitely in the early days anyway, i think blu-ray have seen the light now!

Yeah as long as the quality is the same, I just want the war over, so I can invest in on of the HD players. Bit worrying what you were saying though dk about your HD-DVD's looking better than Bluray's.

BD is surely the future, with everything, films, games etc. Just decide !!! :D

They've been brave making that decision

Obviously blue-ray players are everywhere with them been in the PS3.

If the xbox360 had come with a HD player i'm sure it would of been a different story with the amount of volume in terms of xbox console sales

I've not got any hardware to play either so not really bothered at the mo, not biassed either I suppose

To those that think it's the better format, I'm interested as to how you've come to this conclusion

It's unratified, the probs with 1st gen players, BD-Java, more expensive to produce hardware and titles, currently not using latest codecs

Aside from the max storeage capacity being higher, I can't think of an advantage today, this is based on keeping an eye in both camps

Discuss.........I'm intrigued

the codecs they are using are the same now, no real difference in picture, its now sometimes down to the sound options they offer.

both are pretty much the same but with blu-ray offering more storage it has the potential to offer more
