Big service time. Buy bits from Motorfactor?

I'm about to service the valver so need Oil filter, plugs, leads, coilpack, oil, gearbox oil.

Should I buy genuine items or will Euro Carparts stuff be ok?

(The reason I ask is I don't want to end up buying stuff twice if the ECP stuff is just going to last 3 months then be knackered and I end up doing it twice!)

Motor factor stuff will be absolutley fine as long as OE/decent brand quality stuff used.

Cheapo chinese stuff doesn't normally last too long.

If you want to send me a list on pm i'll sort some prices if you wish.

Me personally i always genuine Genuine service bits, that way you know your not going to get an inferior oil filter for example, different oil filters can effect oil pressure.

Some places are fine, the problem is it can be hard to tell, and a genuine oil filter is about 3 quid lol

Also they are not badly priced from Renault either with discount

Nothing wrong with buying from a MF matey, alot of independants use MF's for their bits, id probably stil buy a decent oil tho. try and get a trade card from halfords you get loads of discount with one.

GSF are great as they usually offer Genuine parts when it comes to oil filters etc. I know they do with al the VAG stuff, and they used to when I needed filters for my 205 Mi16. I've been using them for years and had no problems. Oddly, the only thing I couldnt get from them was a C.V boot for the 172.

probably mostly IT people ;) zero experience heros

recieved information is the blight of the internet

FYI, NGK plugs are genuine. use BCPR6ES if you dont have a cat, they're cheap, and will do exactly the same job. I can explain why if you're really that bored

NGK plugs can be bought from Reno or ECP and GSF they are all the same as are other service items. Just make sure you specify OE parts when ordering, its that simple.

Ok, well knowledge gained from my 200sx years ;)

pre-cat cars use BCPR6ES
cat cars use PFR6E-10

Only difference is the cat. The reason being, precious metal plugs give a slightly cleaner burn, and help preserve the cat (unburned fuel is bad for it)

I've used Cheap NGK plugs for years in dozens of cars. A sparkplug is a sparkplug, as long as it meets the right grades (resistance, heat grade)

My 200sx made 294bhp with plugs that cost less than £5
