Bitcoins (and other crypto currencies)

I see, so they are betting that a particular coin will be the chosen one to be used by someone, somewhere, in a decent enough volume as an actual 'currency' a la bitcoin?

I think a lot of people are but I also think that's probably wrong, The power of block chain is as a means of recording transactions not as a currency.

If you want a long term investment I think people should be looking for the companies that are going to be able to develop it, get it past govt and into the mass market.
If you want short term investment and you are good at following trends then buy the coins.

I get that, I know blockchain as a tech has a future with many ‘normal’ companies working with it.

Just don’t see the correlation between some random new coin and the relation of being able to extract value out of the underlying tech.

Companies that are intersted in using the tech will more likely want a ‘private’ blockchain system rather than just using the public coin, so still not really seeing the link as it’s not like it’s the same as buying a share in a company that comes with dividends and has a perceived value against the companies worth.

Finding it hard to explain exactly what I mean here as you can tell!

Anyway, enough if that, I’ll sit here being stupid about it all ;)

Could be worse, look at Reddit. There are tons of people on there who've put thousands into weird ICO's hoping that coins worth a few cents will be worth dollars.

I've heard the adverts on the radio, it's gambling obviously but catered for the Football bore types.

Got in on the Electroneum Ico in october. Price was 1 cent per ETN plus 50% bonus. In december it went up to 24 cents but has fallen steadily since then. From what ive read experts think we have 2 weeks left of correction (downward or calm) before the market heads north again. Predictions are a 1 trillions dollar market cap and bitcoin to reach $50,000. A trillion dollar market could easily support a $3 Electroneum but id be over the moon with $1. The biggest increases are predicted to be from low circulation/volume Tokens (Capp or cappasity is a perfect example of this) Fun will also make huge headway. In truth i see very few coins not doing well this year. Dont buy Tether or sign up to Bitfinex and you should be on the right track.

What miner are you using and what are you mining with it?

I basically have free electricity through work so I'm tempted to get back into the mining game...
