Black Gold Clio 182 Daily Project

So I've been browsing this forum since i passed my test in 2011, always liked the Renaultsport range of cars.

Started off with a Saxo VTR, then bought another, then went back to my first, stripped it done a bit of track time, then fitted a 16v engine.

I then got a 106 GTi, similar spec to the saxo except full Gaz GHA suspension, Cammed JP4s engine, this was my daily but being completely stripped, no radio, no seats etc it was hard going and I would've fallen out with the car although it's a lot of fun so this is now a project/track car.

I needed a daily, that was relatively nippy and looked good and handled well to keep me amused. Clio 182 was the answer.

So I picked this up last Monday and give it its first clean yesterday.

It's lowered in coilovers, not sure which... Red springs? But I think the rear shocks are standard from looking under the car. Will double check all this when I get my jack back from a mate and can get it up in the air.

Miltek system and decat, had a look underneath and j can't see any marking or anything to say it is miltek or not.

Got the oz F1s on it and also a set of the anthracite 182 alloys which could do with a refurb.

Heko wind deflectors.

My plans are to keep it looking good and enjoy it daily, so I will be doing:

Smaller front plate/clean rear plate
New number plate light
Refurb headlights
Rear bumper respray
Identify coilovers, replace at some point although it does drive nice.
Set of 2118s or speedlines.
Identify exhaust, might replace this sounds good but wouldn't mind a little more tone to it.
RS Tuner and 98ron/pop and bang map
Spacers, rear rubs on hard corners etc
Aluminium foot rest/heel toe pedal
New mats
ABS ring as lights on

And that's all, really happy with the car, drives nice and handles pretty well.

Will update as I go along, won't be anywhere near as good as some of the builds on here.

Cheers matey, needs rear bumper respray and exhaust moving as its melted the bumper and there's a scratch down through paint and primer from old owner but will be tip top within a few months!

Defiantly coilovers mate, I can adjust them.

What's people's views on the F1s? I'm getting a 50/50 response from people, either love them or hate them.

Personally I love them, might get the refurbed in the same colour.

But really want 2118s in anthracite.

I've also got a machine polisher and everything needed to polish this up with a nice wax to go on as well on the way.

F1 are epic, if it's a track car then F1's are soft and bend easy.

Won't be a track car, got my little GTi for that. Only time it'll see track is if the GTi is broken and I have a day coming up lol

wanted some 2118's too but they're 1.5kg heavier than the 15" OZ F1's.. looks better though IMO

Thay are 15s mate, I still want 2118s, Dont really mind about the additioanl weight, Its a daily, So wont notice the difference.

Gonna get the car booked in for rear bumper respray at the end of the week.

I had the front bumper, driver door and right wing resprayed, now the bonnet look dark brown..

I am a bit hesitant about getting the bumper done just incase it doesn't match. Could sort out a few things, I do like the F1s so don't need the alloys and the bumper is annoying but I want to sort some smaller things first.

Yeah, I beleive anything like potholes or high curbs on track will bend them.

Booked for the alloys to get refurbished in silver, Dropping them off sunday.

Also ordered 3/4 size plate last night, Should be here soon.

Just waiting for my new radio with steering wheel adaptor to arrive. Payday Friday, will probably order a few bits.

Probably give it a clean Friday night as well, going to japfest on Saturday and although it'll obviously not be on stand it's nice to have a clean car when there's a lot of car enthusiasts about.

Fitted my new head unit with connrcts2 wiring so can use the stalk which is good.

Then give it a clean and quick polish Friday night before japfest yesterday, fitted my smaller plate as well.

Also ordered a new Renault sport badge for the boot.

Few things have arrived over the last couple of days.

This should smarten the rear up a little.

And also received these:-

A new hazard light switch, mine was broken.
An aluminium foot rest
New window switch

And also a new number plate light because mine wasn't clear any more.

Have ordered a new boot lock from Renault as well because I can't actually unlock my boot at the moment lol

Worked really well - mine was a little swirled up from a year of not polishing. used a few different hexlogic pads with menzerna sample set then blackhole and then Petes Black Pearl. Came out pretty much perfect. Going to apply another layer of Petes this weekend. you are going to like the result when you are done. BG looks amazing when its perfect especially in the sun when you can see the gold .

Awesome to hear! I've never used a machine polisher before lol! And I've got chemical guys complains but I'd imagine the results would be similar?

Open the doors and slide out and pop off the roof rails (i got loads of polish splatter down there) and wash under it whilst at it. If you can be bothered take the bump strips off the sides as it makes polishing easier.

As some of you may have seen on @SimpleJoee thread, we went for a drive yesterday from Brecon > Llandovery > Black mountains.

Really nice drive, nice weather, amazing roads but too much traffic, so won't be going on a bank holiday again.

Today I didn't have much planned and the weather was nice so I thought I'll have a crack at restoring my headlights.

I started off with 2000 grit wet and dry and it didn't really do much, so I got the machine polisher out and some heavy cutting compound, both headlights come up really well, I think I'll have another go later in the week to clear up a few little bits I missed.

I also fitted my hands free, new hazard light switch and new RS badge.

I'm off this week so will be giving it a full machine polish and a good wax before Saturday for French car show, also my F1s are going off to get refurbished on Monday, staying silver just want them looking fresh.

All about the small things that make it look clean.

F1s are off for a refurb tomorrow so popped the curbed 182s on until they come back. They're gonna stay silver.

Also had a look at the coilovers can't see any markings on them, anyone have any idea?

French car show on saturday just gone was great.

Didn't actually take any pictures of my car, but here's 2 that others took. On freshly refurbished alloys, nice bright silver, look well.

Also the coilovers seem to be raceland ones. So they will be replaced at a later date. Not sure with what but I do fancy some bilstein B14s. We shall see.

Nothing much happening with this lately, it does need 2 new front tyres so will probably go for rainsport 3s as I have heard good things about them.

I cracked my sump, which has now been repaired but might look into raising the car, still need to fit my abs ring and refit exhaust as its blowing and not central.

But I have just cleaned it and love it all over again. Landlord has said no to working on the cars on the drive and has told me to sell my track car, so for time being all works stopped and looking for a new place with a garage etc.
