Black Ph1

Looks awesome. Got any more plans to keep the black and red theme going? Badges / fog light surrounds / tow eye / door mirrors / things like that?

Lovely car mate!

How did you attack the yellow on the headlights? Mine are starting to look horrible!

I really like this car!

It also keeps making me wish I'd have been brave and had my wheels done red too instead :(

By god this looks good, when I get my ph1 if I can get it looking half as good as this I'll be happy!

Best bold colour scheme on here imo, just works.

No I don't think I'm going to add any more red, think it might look abit too much. I might do a bit of red in the engine bay though.

Cars looking good mate

Did you get that knocking noise sorted from when we seen you at northwest performance

Yeh I sorted it on Saturday, adjusted the top engine mount and the noise has gone. So very happy about that.

I used some green finishing paper that I found at work. It's for polishing metal work, has a sort of fibre glass weave on the back of it. I think it's fairly expensive though but it did the trick and only took 5/10 minutes.

Today did afew little jobs. Sprayed the interior door handles, fitted Ph2 interior door pulls and Ph2 sill "Renault Sport" strips. I also tidied the seat bolster up abit.

Kiwi polish did a really good job on the bolster, wish I had a before pic but we all know what they look like after 60k.

You can see the one I used in the pics, it's got a sponge head on it. I think it just colours the cracks, but it looks much better.

Liking your purchase!!

Cheers Naith. I think I'll have to follow suit and get some.

Looks great Edd..! and a bargain indeed!!

Do you have a part number for the steering wheel boss kit please? I also have a momo corse steering wheel avec red stitching that I was going to put on our 205 track car, but its in too good condition, so thought i'd put it on the 172. Seeing yours there, my mind is made.. just need a boss though ;)

If you PM Dangerous Dave I think he may be able to sort you out.

Is it a coloured polish then mate? And if so, does it come with a coat to make sure it doesn't come off on clothes etc??? As I've heard of coloured polish's causing problems.

Cheers :)

Yeh it's just a coloured polish. I've used it on all 3 of my 172's, always left it to dry for 20 mins or so and have never got it on my clothes.

Sorry to spam your lovely thread, but do they do it in a variety of colours? I have the ph2 interior (special ;))

Oh and, does your car get looks of everyone on the road with the red wheels? Mine is seeming to attract enough attention with just the green lip!

I'm not jelous unless you've got a ph2 dash :rasp:.

Well I think there will be just one in navy blue, but I've used the same one on a Ph2. It's not a perfect match on either but it looks much better than cracking.

Yeh they do get a fair bit of attention, probably for the wrong reasons though, "look at that chav/boy racer with his red wheels!"

I've got some of that polish i used it on my first ph1 it works a treat.

I've got ph2 dash ;)

Finally got my engine cover sprayed black after a couple of sprayers at work decided to create a Buzz Lightyear edition instead.

Also on Saturday I changed the oil/filter, fitted an ITG panel filter and replaced the Magnex with a standard exhaust.

It beats changing exhausts on the drive with a jack!

sorry, when you say your aux belt was whining? i know its hard to describe but my ph1 is on similar miles (56k) and i'm not sure if they guy b4 me did both cam and aux or just cambelt.

With mine the previous owner had the cambelt kit changed but only the aux belt itself and not aux belt kit. Soon after I got it the bearing at the bottom of the belt started to whine like a b1tch. So NW Performance fitted me a genuine Renault aux belt kit at a very good price.

Bought a set of 16 inch oz f1s yesturday, fancied a change from the red. But unfortunately the old girl has developed clutch/gearbox issues so the refurb/tyres might have to wait afew weeks.

Got the 16's back after a refurb/powdercoat in high power silver. Look a bit better.

But gearbox/clutch issue is still not resolved and if it's an expensive fix these may have to be sold.:(

I've never seen OZ F1's before with only 4 bolt holes.
