Re: The 'TeamAriane' clio... Ghetto goodness.

i thought it was 330 but i think its 300. its tiny, the second wheel that is... sure it was bigger and has shrunk in the house.
They feel smaller on. I thought my 350 WRC would feel huge, but it was perfect for the Clio's steering weight.

Re: The 'TeamAriane' clio... Ghetto goodness.

i had a smaller wheel on one of my 205 gti's. dunno why but made it feel a lot more go karty. the std ph1 wheels is huge anyway! i kind of prefer the airbag bonus tho (gettin old)

lol at chickening out, on 2nd thoughts i quite like having a face....
the first wheel i think has been re-furbished....badly!!
its saveable with a bit of proper sanding priming and painting but wouldnt have paid as much for it if he knew it wasnt brand new!!!
the little drive i had it seemed fine tbh but may be worth checking out another boss just incase, it wont tke long to swap it over...

the leather one looks ace though :)

New wheel looking good. Shame about the one you'd originally got not being up to much!

Aye mate, not done much with the meg with bein ill these past couple of weeks, but once i've given that beam a quick lick of paint and stitched on some suede i'll drop you a pm :rasp:

Phoned the guy about my rims yday-he still hasn't bloody finished them so you may have yours before me yet! :dead:

bought alexc's spacers off him and fitted them yesterday, i'm not one for spacers usually, i mean i wouldnt run them on the meg but they work on the clio and pull the wheels out from what seemed under the engine!

everytime i work on the car its always fcuking cold!

IMG-20110215-00339.jpg

we were going to fit the front splitter that i've had sat about for two months too but never got round to it for messing about, also moved the fogs out ready for the airducts, seen as i cant find fog blank covers cheap enough. anyhoo. excuse bb pics but she's looking ok (bar the smashed rear light, yes it was my fault)

managed to source a whole new rear beam and hubs for the megane too so hopefully i can start to concentrate on my car now Riad? ;)
so as you can see its subtle, yet effective, doesnt really alter the steering, felt the car tramlined a little driving into town yesterday but it might have just been me looking for it..

I concur. Froze my plums off riding to and from work. Car is looking tidy. Looking forward to seeing this and TDk side by side. :)

meg is getting a whole new rear suspension, beam, hubs the works. got a great price so i may as well add the modified cup one on the back with all its ancilleries. newer part/newer car ennit.

i'm about tomo, going wales later on... meeting sam@btm in the day if your free christopher.

Thought TDK was at BTM? Or did you never get it there?
Spacers make a great improvement. I'm tempted by some but not sure how it will affect the car.

ripped the dash apart today and drove it to Autoflock in Wales...

raj there is a fcuking legend, i'll start with that. the guy spent a good hour showing me and alexC around and generally chatting about cars, carbon fibre, flocking and god knows what else. electrostatic something... known in the industry for his attention to detail and seriously competitive pricing its only fair the shitheap clio gets a spring pressie from them.

I told raj to take his time and i'll pick up next friday but he can do next day turnaround from his site in Llay industrial estate in Wrexham. We had a look at diferent finishes but as it stands the flocking will be in black due to the lower dash being grey and i think the contrast will suit.

IMG-20110218-00353.jpg

above are different samples he showed us today, making them in front of us, I think we will have the work done with like the piece on the left as the fibres are slightly longer, not as robust but look and feel better.

The heaters will be getting sprayed gloss black. The airbag is going too, leaving the hole which Raj will build up with a skin (the material i cant remember) so it looks like an OEM flat area.

my eventual aim is to rid the car of all the blue interior and have WRC style black and grey. The passion for the product shows through and Raj stated that he's prepared to look at doing a big offer on CS along with moving into the manufactuering of bespoke CF parts along with kevlar and GRP splitters (I'm having one made for the meg)

more info on them here for now, new website btw... http://www.autoflock.co.uk/ or on 07894 636 707

So we are stuck with a major ghetto spec car, secretly i like it like this though... ;)

i'll update asap with pics and do a writeup on autoflock seperatly as i dont wanna clog this up with questions.

The autoflock dash goes in on friday, raj has put so much time and effort into it, cant wait, whilst its being done he did the steering column and Apillars, they alone look great.

IMG-20110227-00363.jpg

since we bought the car its had a terrible issue with the throttle body sticking and just generally being pap, basically the car wouldnt idle and I had to hold it on the clutch to bring the revs down, response wasnt 100%. took the car to BTM this weekend to have that done. fred also replaced the aux belt as he wasnt happy with the one on it and the pulleys, cant ask for more than that!

old...

new...

Birmingham-20110227-00367.jpg

also checked oils, fluids and general condition of the engine (well he did recommision it after all).

also made plans to return this weekend and fit a certain exhaust.... :) :) :) :)

as for now, pick up is alot better, not even a case of placebo, few post work have noticed it, banshee's at 4.5k!

oh and i've ripped all the sound deadening out, dirty french paper mache crap!

Spent the last two days racking up the miles in the old girl, I just love the car more and more, the new butterfly and inlet make it sing, granted the exhaust is pap but thats next weeks change! Riads been photographing the Porsches at Oulton friday/sat so inbetween we headed over to Autoflock in Wrexham to see Raj and pick up the modified dash.

Always a case of letting pics do the talking but thats not enough here, the guy is brilliant, seriously. he's fanatical about cars for a start so walking round the unit seeing CF weave and time attack wings is a taster to his attitudes. I wanted the Apillars doing along with the steering column and obviously the dash (all obviously without Riads green light!).

_DSC2372.jpg

As we move the clio forward and make her fast road/track orientated/suitable to build riads track etiquette up we obviously want weight out, so the passanger airbag was removed and Raj moulded a fibreglass sheet to it with something else that i've unfortunately forgot the name off lol (sowriiii, all i know is its high end and technical and meant alot of sanding, layers and sanding)

_DSC2373.jpg

About 4 hours solid work went into it and the results are amazing, he's cheaper than others I know of, uses more advanced methods and is willing to do a deal with CS members too. details of which i'll post tomorrow with better pics of the clean clio. Testament to the work that two bmw race teams today at Oulton took details and everyone that see's it is like 'oooooo'

heres a few more of the dash anyway...

_DSC2371.jpg

overexposed shot to show how it looks, excuse the heater vents, i'm spraying them black like the clock/temp gauge in the week.

NewDash.jpg

Aim is to totally remove the ghastly blue from the ph1 interior. new buckets seats and carpet strip will help that eventually.

next week we move onto exhaust and braking 'issues', but as for today asnd the schooling of the college boy in his Boxster... i think we are happy ;)

oh.

and to top the day off Christopher came over and we let eachother lose on eachothers cars ;)

_DSC2502.jpg

(Note: not to scale)

splitter is only small but the difference is huge, really makes the car look mean, especially with the spaced front wheels. oh and he gave us his used side bullets, many thanks as always sir x

i might do a grand total of whats been spent on the car next week, people will spit feathers..

god bless the ghetto. we dont have get a bargain in these parts.

Clean and 'better' pics tomo, instead of my point and hope efforts.

  Merc A class

Happy to help mate. Gimme a shout tomorrow if you're heading out for a few pics... I'll pop along then run 'em though Photoshop for you.

FYI, I'm not having a fit.

  DCi 100
Fibreglass with polyester resin iirc. 100% smooth fit which is actually pretty damn great IMO concidering the curve.

Looks good. How did you zoom in on christopher but not the car? Camera skills!
