blowing on decat joint?



Ha same.
Removing cat / decat is easy though mate if you've not done it before.
Just remember the order the springs/washers go on the manifold end when your taking it off!

went to take the decat off today was blowing from both joints, clamp from decat to centre pipe came off fine went to take the 2 bolts out connecting manifold to decat one came out easy the other the nut is just spinning dont know weather the garage that fitted it have tightened it too tight and its knackered the thread but its not coming off at all. just put it back together for now guessing ill have to grind the bolt off

Yeah mate I am lol the first one came off sound then the other it loosened then the nut is just spinning but not moving any further down the thread, the whole things not spinning just the nut any ideas to get it of other than grind?

I dont think there's one decent garage within miles of me :/. I'm not taking it back to the place that have fitted it the last 2 times as they have caused this cos they must of had it off to refit the decat that's I they even did take it off!
 
To be fair if your decat hasn't had the bit after the flange ground off, there's not a lot the garage could've done to stop it leaking.
So they may not be as bad as you think. Seems weird if the bolt is just spinning. Definitely just the nut?
Is the nut actually turning, or is the spanner spinning round the nut?

I understand that they couldn't do much about the leakin but they must of somehow knackered that bolt up, no the spanner grips perfect and turns the nut and the nut just turns doesn't loosen or tighten take it thread fucked, I'm going to take it to a garage Monday and just ask them to fit the new kit
 
Yea sounds like the nut is fucked. Just grind it off, if you've got a new one ready to go on.
Okay mate. Just remember you need to grind the bit off the end of the decat, otherwise you'll still have exactly the same problem even with the new kit.

will get it grinded off tommorow.. was yours one of the dodgy ones then?.. also is it easy to unplug the lamda sensor on the decat instead of unscrewing it as ive heard they are a nightmare. just to get the decat out from under the car for grinding it mate
 
Yea that is true.
Mine was one of the dodgy ones, as I had to grind the end off.
I basically removed it from the car, with the lambda still screwed in. Then clamped it in a work bench, and grinded down the lip, till it was flush with the flange bit.
Then bolted it back onto the car, with a new gasket kit :)

ground the nut from the old bolt today and managed to get the decat of fine also ground the lip on the decat..

Found it was a nightmare getting the new fitting kit on it was like the bolt was too short anyway after lost of stress managed to prise the spring back and get the nuts on.

the decat is no longer blowing/leaking from the decat to centre pipe but still slight drops coming from the manifold to decat even after fitting the new fitting kit and grinding down the lip on the yozza decat :/

Not f**king around with it anymore now so just gonna live with it dripping a little

Drip there is probably a good thing tbh, the gasket is like a gauss rather than a full sealing one so I guess it's designed to allow that? No idea really.

Got mine booked in for a service on Wednesday, may see if Fred has a spare few minutes for me after it and see what he thinks is the problem with my join!

No idea tbh maybe there is meant to be a drip not sure it's staying like that now though lol

Yeah it was smaller than the figure you said sure was 448 :/ how can they be so different lol

Did you struggle getting new bolt and nut on took me forever was like the bolt wasn't long enough for all the things spring washer cup ect
 
That's a cm shorter! I need to get out and measure mine. Such an effort though. If mine's really shorter I think I'm gonna contact Ktec.

Erm can't really remember. Don't think it was too hard. All to with the the angle you hold the decat onto the manifold at, plus its quite a fiddle on axle stands!

Thats what I thought my tailpipes sit spot on though now where you said yours are too far in :/ weird get onto them I would if had a replacement to go on
