Bobs Black Gold 182 Project

  CLS, RS MEG
Latest purchase..

2005 55 plate BG 182 with 107,000 miles. The service history from 2005 - 2016 is Full Renault dealer. So much paperwork with this one!
Cup suspension and cup spoiler. Belts done in 2010 and again with dephaser in 2017 (87k)
Upon inspection it’s been cared for most of it’s life, however suffering neglect the past couple of years.
It’s got turini cup wheels, which having cleaned them up must of been refurbed not so long back, however two definitely require another refurb due to curb rash.
Engine bay looked nice with purple details, the interior was dirty to say the least.
The car has a misfiring cylinder when starting, and was low on oil and coolant.
Clean bodywork, it’s had some work on the passenger rear quarter, and the drivers quarter has a small scratch which I will sort. It’s been resprayed at some point and headlights look new. For what I paid I’m not too bothered, and Standard cat still on the car.

Boot mat missing, xenon washer jets missing, no front splitter.

This will be another lengthy project no doubt, but if anyone recognises this car or used to own it, give me a shout🙋🏻

Waiting for window regulator to arrive. Rear badges were positioned wrong so ripped them off. Need to get the glue off, any ideas?

Thought you sold the last one because you were working abroad. That all changed pretty quick.

Looking forward to seeing the build. Love a black gold
Booked to go back on the Sunday ferry. But this came up which I’ll store in the garage :)
Trying to break its back before I leave

Dropped the oil and carried out a service.
I had some old injectors from a past 172 knocking around, some fault finding and ithink I’ve fixed the misfire.
Don’t want to start it up until the cats back in place though.

The washer jets were missing when I bought the car, as was all the plumbing.
A trip to B&Q for some 8mm rubber hose + couplers and M14 nuts and all working again.

I removed The rear badges Renault Sport badges back in April as they were incorrectly spaced. A new Sport badge with some measurements from My previous cars I’ve got the badges looking more OEM.

stuck some road tax on, half a tank of Shell Optimax and went for a spin.

There is another addition that most will spot, and I’m certain it won’t be liked by 99% of you😈

(hoping for Recaros soon, and maybe the V6 spoiler)

New shocks and wishbones just ordered, plus track rod ends.

Took it for its first proper blast, lt runs so well with the faults fixed and fresh service.

Is this 1*2 project number 3? Are you losing a fair bit on resale having spent so much on them each time?

Bob, love what you have done to your Clio. I recently bought a Black Gold 182 Cup, and also the rear badges were missing (I have since sourced some). But unfortunately I don't have another Clio Sport that I can get the measurements from, so would you be able to share those measurements here?
Cheers

Not updated this thread for some time. I Moved house before xmas, and the Clio has not been used much.

She got treated last month with a trip to Birchdown Autos for Full Belts, dephaser, ABS fault fixed and a fresh MOT. I also picked up some 182 alloys as I missed the OE look & a smaller front plate.

I did advertise the car for sale, I spend too much time working on the new house or away with work, and the Clio rarely gets used, however i have decided to keep it for now, and use it more often.

I've just ordered some new bits for her, and considering booking a track day this year. I have never done one. Which is ridiculous as this is probably my 20th Renaultsport!
