Bolt spacing on 1.2

Hi guys, well the plan was to buy some VMax Coilovers for the 1.2 but im just in the middle of buying & selling houses atm so money is tight.

My question is, is it possible to change the bits that are 52m to 58m for the cheaper coilovers? Or do what matie did with his beutiful dci rep & change the entire subframe at the front? (sorry, can't remember your name!) The rears wouldn't need touching would they?

I have thought of selling the 1.2 & buying a dynamique just so i have the standard 58m bolt spacing! :dapprove:

Advise please guys! All I need is her sitting lower then I'll be happy! :D

If you are converting to 58mm spacing (i.e from a sport) then you'll need new hubs, carriers, brakes etc. This means you'll probably also need the bottom arms, driveshafts etc.

there is a thread on here about that iirc. he spent just as much swapping parts +rokkors (he did all the fitting himself) than he would of spent buying v maxxs in the first place

Thanks for that guys. Dunno how i managed to miss that thread!

I dont want to convert to 172 bits, just standard if it can be done tbh.

So, can i get those bits from a clio dynamique? And how come the discs & calipers needed replacing? Didn't say in that thread.

If I can find the parts cheaps enough then why not?

Sorry, i just want her lower!
ta :)

The 1.2 16v has 58mm hub spacing, pretty sure the 1.4 does too. Don't you need to change the drive shafts as well Fred?

Yep, its 52 atm. Do i really need to upgrade the discs & callipers as mine are newish.

The hubs i found are from a 16v clio. Will they fit? Sorry for all the Questions, I really apreciate your help peeps :)

Buy it, try it, if it doesn't work put it down to experience. Sorry that's as much help as I can be :)

if you're refering to my thread, i spent quite a bit less,
and ended up with brand new discs, higher spec brake, and a freshly blead system!

but yes, whipping just the hubs off a 1.4 16v should be enough.
But make sure you measure, im certain ive read on here about 16v non-sports having 52mm hubs and visa versa
but be very careful with the ball joints when removing and refitting if you plan to keep the same ones!!

and yes, 100% the rears will be perfectly fine to take any mk2 suspension setup!
