Bonnet Release Catch (Mark 2 Phase 2)

Ok, used the search but couldn't find any specific answers to my questions...

In the process of getting a Mark 2 Phase 2 1.2 16v dynamique as a first car.

Been alerted to the bonnet catch issue by several people now and I just wanted to know -

1. Does it affect the Mark 2 Phase 2 models or just the Phase 1s?
2. Maintenence - How and How often? Seen somewhere that somebody put WD40 on it... Didn't think that was a great idea because it dries out any existing grease and replaces it with a very thin residue, thought 3 in 1 oil would be a better idea?
3. Is it a pretty serious issue and should all cars concerned to be avioded?

Any help would be great.

its a quick 5 min check at reno - tbh its usually not a problem

just take t to renault and they will look at it the more or likely replace it if its rusty

1) ALL Mk2 shaped Clios

2)Is it rusty ? Dont worry about maintenance

3)Yes it is serious. If it does have rust on it get down to Renault and get it checked out.

the approved products to use are 7711 275 616 and 7711 236 166

one is a penetrating oil and the other is Supalube, these are the only approved lubricants
