Boot mounted batteries and MOT

  Clio 172
Thinking off mounting my battery in the boot, allowing more space for the IK. I was chatting to my local ICE delaer and he said that it's illegal/MOT failure to do so unless you a)provide a vent to allow any acidic fumes to escape OR b)use a dry cell battery (Optima).
Is this correct?

Also, can you get a box/or secure fixing for the battery, once it's mounted in the boot? Heard you can get something from a yacht chandlery.

My interior is coming out next week and I want to take the opportunity to run any cabling to the boot.

Also, any tips from anyone who has done this before?

My battery is mounted in the back, I just got a battery box from demon tweaks, and bolted that in..

Should be OK as long as it secured well, you don't want it moving under braking.

cheers Tony.

MarkM has his done and rmcardel or however you spell it has as well. It must be legal as BMWs have the battery in the boot. However the do have a vent with a pipe connecting to the outside, wouldnt be too hard to do though.
