Brake cooling done

  Bumder With A Buffer
Finally got around to finishing off my brake cooling ducts.

I NEVER use my fog lights..I can probably count on one hand how many times I have used them in the 6 years i've had the car!

So bought this lot ages ago

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=416963&highlight=brake

Consisted of 2 x fog light surrounds, 2 x ducts, 1 x Ripspeed ali ducting.

The ducts themselves were ports used for sub boxes and were ever so slightly smaller than the holes for the fog light :( . So i almost scrapped the ducts and bought some bigger ones then I thought I could bond them in somehow using filler.

First I put them in and held them in place with some uhu super glue stuff, as there was literally not much there to hold it in place to start wiht....used Davids P38 easy sand to fill in the back first and let that set the nflipped over and filled in the gaps in the front. Let it all dry and then started sanding them down smooth. Dont have any pics of that part but this is whats on the back...

Once I was happy I had got the front down as smooth as I could I bought some Satin Black spray paint and just sprayed them tonight.

The finished article.....

LOL, you always have your fog lights on when I see you handbraking around car parks...

They look really decent mate!! :)

Good timing! I might be doing this to mine soon, the brakes got a tad hot on their first trackday so anything I can do to help is a plus, and I never use the fogs either :)

I'll keep an eye out for the next stage :)

Dont you mean dogging around PC world car park...??? (Then it turns out she was learning to drive!!)

Yeah came out better than I thought to be honest! Makes it more OEM looking in a way??

I might have it off you if you do decide :) Also FMS will be able to fit it for you.

Ill stop spamming your thread with randomness now though.. back to the ducts!

Probably a really silly question but I dont see the need to lacquer these?? Just a few coats of satin black and leave it???

Thats what I thought and why I said "probably a silly question"...I have no clue/idea when it comes to spraying. Not overly impressed with the finsih of satin black soo far but Il add another coat tomorrow and it should look better :).....

look good mate. i wouldnt bother with the laquer. just keep an eye on them and give them a fresh coat of satin every now and then.

Look spot on them.

Liking them!

Cheers...I was impressed at my skills so far to be honest...just need to make sure they dont crack as when I fisrt did them I could crack them out of palce really easily...so I stripped it all back..sanded to give it something to key into and went from there. Might have to rethink what type of filler I use if thats the case :(

Could always ghetto it and fix it together with zip ties, track look ftw :D

Look really good richy, might have to 'borrow' your idea! I've currently got the piping cable tied to the fogs surround but that looks a lot neater (and would hide the surface rust on the pipe wire!)

For deflectors i got some 150mm square 2mm thick aluminium sheet and hammered into shape
