brake fade and smoking

hi all last saturday i put new front brake pads and rear shoes on my 1.2 mk2 ph2 clio

but tonight i went out for a fast drive and after about 3 miles i started to get realy bad brake fade and when i pulled over to let them cool down the near side front brake was smoking realy badly but every thing was fine after 5 mins.

Agree with the above, likely caused the surface to glaze causing the fade. Cant remember the bedding in distance to do before abusing them if anybody cares to add :p

Have you checked that the caliper is not sticking?

250 miles is more than enough gentle driving before giving them some hard work to do teh final bed in.
