brake fade and smoking

hi all last saturday i put new front brake pads and rear shoes on my 1.2 mk2 ph2 clio

but tonight i went out for a fast drive and after about 3 miles i started to get realy bad brake fade and when i pulled over to let them cool down the near side front brake was smoking realy badly but every thing was fine after 5 mins.

Bedding your brakes in. Your doing it wrong.....

Agree with the above, likely caused the surface to glaze causing the fade. Cant remember the bedding in distance to do before abusing them if anybody cares to add

i had allready done about 250 miles of gentle driving and i realy dont no what the smoke was from

Have you checked that the caliper is not sticking?

250 miles is more than enough gentle driving before giving them some hard work to do teh final bed in.
