Hello. Just changed the brakes on my gfs car, but they feel shite. Barely work in fact. AFAIK I have done everything right. They also make a noise when she drives. Any ideas

take the car for a drive and hit the brakes hard, the pads have some brake in layer on top that needs to come off.

i never cleaned my discs when i changed them and they were fine. Could there be the possibility that air got into the brake line? could also try what james said and just wear the brakes in

No didn't disconnect the brake line and didn't see or feel any fluid leaving the brakes. Brake fluid is also still at the same ish level. :S il go for a drive and hope they bed in

You put the lid back on the fluid reservoir Luke?

Is there no feeling in the pedal at all? One or two presses with the engine running should get the servo going and the pedal will go hard.

The discs are covered in machine oil from the factory to stop them from rusting before they are used, this needs to be removed with meths or similar otherwise it'll contaminate the pads and is probably why the brakes aren't the best tbh. See what happens but will want the discs cleaning and a new set of pads at worst if it doesn't improve.

Every set of brakes i've ever fitted to any car have worked perfectly well from day 1, theres never been any real "bedding in" need. I know they do but its not a complete night and day difference with normal standard compound pads.

Da, yes put the lid back on it. Although I think it's fooked as it doesn't screw tight. Gets to a certain point the goes lose again.

Ben yes I had to push/hammer the piston back. It was proper jammed too on the drivers side

Nope. Deffo 100% not leaking brake fluid...

I didn't replace the disk's, they were fine, no grooves in them and smooth as a pornstars vag.

Il give them a few days to bed in then wack them back off if they haven't improved. Really don't wanna end up having to bleed the lines

cap on or off makes no difference to braking.

most disks should be cleaned with brake cleaner before fitting due to being covered in a oil based coating to stop corrosion.

when you fit disk/pads it can take a little longer to bed in.

if your still having issues just bleed the brakes, i did rears on a vectra 05 plate a while back and lost all braking power, full bleed sorted it out, still to this day cant understand why but hey ho :approve:
