brake vac pipe melted

as above really does this happen all the time?
thinking of making one up tomorrow b4 i put the engine back in.

could i use copper fuel pipe?
will be a bit smaller but its no good as it is!!!

seen it once, you can buy some stuff (10mm IIRC) from pirtek that'll work, or i could send you a length

need it doin tomoro and have some old fuel pipe knockin around not goin to do it again if its made in copper!!!!
