Brakes feel "dead" when cold

I first noticed this lastnight. Never really nail it when its cold anyways, but some wanker decided to jump a red light lastnight, making me stomp on the middle pedal.

Well, it felt more like I had thrown an anchor out the window, waiting for it to stop.

Is this a usual trait? I thought only "race pads" did this kind of thing? I havent had the pads out the caliper to check what they are, but I assume standard renault spec

Yeah, I found the standard pads needed a bit of heat in them to work at there best, same as my current Pagids really. But nothing significant, they were reasonably good from the off. Usually it's just when a car's been left standing for a while, obviously worse when it's been raining due to the surface layer of corrosion.

mine need some use before they work. standard pads by the way. they just donbt bite if i step on them hard straight away unless im creeping along!
