Brakes for my 172 cup

right looking at some new discs and pads for the cup

as the pads (green stuff are poor)

i dont have abs so i dont want it locking up , what discs and pads are recomended

and is it worth doing the rears atall?

Keep the rears standard, they don't do enough to warrant upgrading.

For the fronts, Brembo HCs and DS2500s/1144s are the best all round package.

Nah it's the High Carbon ones, they are cheaper than the Max.

I doubt you would notice much difference on the road TBH. Never used the Max though so I may be wrong, but the HC's do a good enough job for me.

did they file them down? you need to take some of the back plate material off before you fit them, otherwise, there too tight in the carriers and squeel.

no worries, its annoying so worth doing.

just need to take a bit off the two side edges of the pads so that there looser in the carriers.

yep hence why i bought something different when i changed mine again.

running carbon lorraine rc5+ at the minute, there miles better, but they rattle like god knows what in the carriers when there cold.

ebc yellows are suppose to be ok but i hate ebc with a passion so would steer clear
mintex 1144's are also pretty popular but ive never used them so cant comment
erm, pagid blues (mega bucks), PF97's (destroy your wheels etc)

and thats about it i think!

What about standard Renault pads? Get the reg off a 182 and take it to your local dealer, 182 pads are made by Ferodo and do a pretty good job if you get some good discs and fluid in there and make sure they are bled correctly.

The carbon lorraines are not miles better. I'm running them now. Outright stopping power and fade, there's nothing in it. They make more noise than the ferodo, rattle and squeal. But they fit a bit easier. On balance, I'll go back to ferodo next time.

Not really. To suggest one is much better, would suggest a clear difference in them. Having used them both on track, there isn't. Which suits you better is of course personal preference. But in terms of outright performance there's fack all in it.

i have used both of them, and i think the c/l's work and feel better. thats my opinion, the op was asking for opinions. and i gave it. for you to come on and say there's nothing in it gives him another one. whats the issue?

Just fitted Brembo HC's and Mintex M1155's with HEL braided lines on mine.

They launch me through the windscreen but get no rattles or sqweeks.

But I did have to file the edges slightly to get them into calipers!
