Brakes, Possibly ABS

Car  Clio 2.0 172 PH2
HELP.....

Something which has just started to happen on the clio which is bafferling but upon applying breaks everything is fine until a lower speed and a little less hard breaking when it seems like the ABS is kicking in unnecessarily?

Has anyone had this before or knows what it is?

Do i just need to replace the pads and/or flush the break fluid? I wonder if there is air in the break system or something?

I think the car has been sitting dormant for a while so could this happen?

Thanks for the help

+1 same :(

Used to. Exactly as you described. One of the ABS rings had broken so I bought a couple on ebay and changed them both. Sorted.

Hw easy a job is it? and how expensive are they? Does anyone know if you can get a haynes for the 172 as i went on the website and it didn't look like you could????

Also, should i not be driving the vehicle with this problem? I will need to take it back the garage i bought it. How serious a problem is it?

It needs sorting out, but as it normally causes a problem at slow speeds, you should be alright for a while. The rings are about £10 each. Easy to fit, just need to pop the driveshaft out of the hub. Remove old rings (will be easy if they are snapped), heat up new rings with a heat gun to expand them slightly and then tap on.
