  clio mark3 (06) 1.4 16v
Hi,
I am new here,,, & new to clio ownership,,, I have a lovely 06 clio & have only had it about 3 weeks,,,,,,,

My brakes are relly good etc, but after i have been travelling for about a hours time when i break (even lightly ) there is a audiable squeak, which is driving me nuts !!!!!

do any of you know what this might be ? It only does it when i break ??

thanks in advance.

what are you breaking? or do you mean you're pressing the brake pedal?

Mine do it now, just had new pads and discs fitted, only under light braking and the pads are Ferodo's so I assume it's either because they are new or because they are performance pads.

I guess if yours are standard they must be new?

when you put new brakes in, if you some how (and i know plenty of ppl who've done this) take the plastic/rubber back off maybe whilst installing your new brakes then this can cause the brakes to make noise and squeak whilst braking mainly when almost stopping completely, a mechanic tolm me that as mine do it and is really annoying me too but getting new ones soon so putting up with it for now, you can buy these little sticker pads from most car shops just whip your pads out stick 'em on and but them back with them on and "vwa la" no more squeakin :) good luck

go for the ds2500's mate. Ktec pads are really dusty and it doesn't come off the wheels easily when washed i my experience of course

when you buy new brakes they have a rubbery back on them opposite to the face that touches the disc and if it comes off usually when pushing the pads into the caliper is some times comes off and this can cause the pad to squeak when braking, i still don't understand how but this is defo the cause so you just need to buy new rubber back, i with i knew the proper name for them but i don't sorry, thats all i know hope it has helped a few of you with this problem

strange, didn't notice them on my ds2500? unless it's a road pad thing to take the place of copper grease?

they are quite thin or maybe they don't always come with them, i'm not a mechanic and the copper grease is defo another way off stopping it like clio-ell says above its the vibration between the pads and caliper that cause the noise
