BRAKES!!!!

1

Right.

Next on my list of things to do is Breaking and I mean stopping the car not dismantling it. :D

Pads - Carbon Lorraine or Pagid Blues

Braided hoses - Goodridge or the ones Yozzasport do begins with an 'M'??

Any feedback on trackday performance with any of the above is greatly appreciated....... and, any smartass comments will be treated with contempt :boring:

Cheers

I'm after a new setup too so will be watching with interest. So far I have I am planning on braided lines by Monoauip, and Castrol Super Dot 4 fluid. Not sure on pads and rotors yet.

I seem to remember an Evo article on the 182 Cup where the driver said he set fire to the brake pads and the brakes still hadn't faded, so the standard ones must be pretty good!

Pagid's get good reviews but cost more than the Carbones. Mine have been great. Either will see you buying discs more frequently than the pads. Or go for PF's!!

And they squeel, but I like that.

*awaits Markcup...*

ds2500's fade brembo discs. oh and i've managed to warp 2 sets of discs now LOL.

they are a good pad but for some reason they have issues i've found

i warped one set of brembo hc's on them at brands. been on the max's for ages now and been abused but been superb. seem lots better than the hc's despite many saying theres no difference between them.

brake ducting made most difference of everything though. Like night and day. Still got that bumper if you want it chris... special price as you're pretty, lol

Ah maybe it's just the hc's then.

PMSL, I am indeed pretty but have to decline atm. I'm moving nearer to you soon big boy ;)

It's probably worth mentioning that some of the performance pads on the market have a habit of destroying the paint/lacquer on the wheels and sometimes the sides of the car too. Depending on how precious about the condition of the car it might affect your choice.

Yeah true. The Carbones have bonded to my wheels but if you clean them frequently there shouldn't be too much bother. I left mine for far too long but the wheels are bubbled anyway so it doesn't bother me.

Oh btw, the best alloy wheel cleaner for the job is fairy power spray!

where did you get the ducts from? far more useful than 'driving' lights! an instructor at the last track day i did said that this is the first brake mod you should do. And it's the cheapest!

iirc, these are standard breaks on a trackday, but they were working well at the time the pic was taken:

seen that pic before-pretty impressive. from doing a bit of reading it sounds like the proper ducts are a pita to fit. may just look at some 'stealth' ducting behind the grill of remove the fog lights.

Pagid Blue, Brembo Max & our lines (goodridge are a nightmare to get hold of at the moment)

You can't go wrong with this set-up.

Err, I was the one that was confused...in those videos the pads were PF97s...I was given them and told they were Carbon Lorraines...oops!

I've got real CLs on now :approve:

To answer the original question, if you need to use your car for an average amount of road miles, stick with Pagid Blues unless you can put up with outrageous amounts of squealing, in which case go for the Carbon Lorraines.

Lol, its not cheap. Cost a few hundred fitted and flushed into the bumper, but worth it for the difference in braking.
