Brakes!

I am wanting to get some new discs and pads for my beast and I am wondering what are the best to go for. I am looking to spend around £150, Ive heard Torox G88 discs are good, but im not sure what pads? There have been no performance mods done to the engine if that helps!

Cheers Danny

Dont bother. ditch the standard calipers and get hold of some clio 16v ones. Just get some standard 16v disks as you dont need to uprate them. they will now be vented and about 30mm bigger that your standard disks anyway then stick some decent pads in there like mintex, and enjoy much better breaking. All of this should be well under 150 as well.

I did the 16v/Williams Brake upgrade - the difference is amazing!

Cost with Brand New Discs, Brand New Pads (Originals) and Calipers.. just under £110.. well worth it.. so so so much better than the standard ones I had..

got some 16v calipers, braided hoses, drilled and grooved discs and performance pads on there way this week so i would like to know how much of a difference!

when brakin from 90+ i might as well stick my head out the window coz the window resistance would proberly slow my down faster!

if standard 16v brake setup is that much of a difference im scared wot these are gonna be like!

Dude, its different.. myold solid disks.. brake fade lovely up slip roads.. and if you pressed too hard, it locked.

These, you press hard it slows.. press harder it slows more.. its mint.. heh.

mine either dont brake hard enough or jus lock up!

sometimes i even scare myself let alone the passenger grippin onto ne think they can and pullin the harnesses tighter!

how much to change em over?

I did what your doing to yours now essex boy made loads of difference. Only thing i found though was that they needed alittle more time to get up to temperature. But they were very very good.

would DOT 5 be ne different from DOT 4, i knwo DOT5s not meant expand under pressure so i thought it would go good wit the braided hoses?

still waitin for a quote people!

Cheers lads great help! I nearly went into the back of a golf coming home from work tonight so I think I need them soon! Does anyone know where I could get hold of some from and is it possible to put the back 16v or willy discs on aswell, how much trouble is it?

dot 5 has a higher boiling temp, so takes harder brakeing etc to get brake fade ?

  FRST and 106 GTi

valver/willy brakes on a RT makes an huge difference... have done it on mine but I still have brake fading away.... :(
Im looking for some kind of air-piping cooling like the ones used on the clio cup racing.

well... I know I need to drive slower.

why use 5 point anything!!!

Just stick to DOT 4 or at most castrol response Super Dot 4 synthetic brake fluid.

Firstly dot 5.1 will need more regular maintanence as itll absorb water quicker. Youll never reach its boiling point in general use, infact youll never reach it unless you drive at 60 non stop with the brakes on.

I dunno how you can get brake fade, i dont even run fancy pads and discs or fluid on track and ive never had a problem. What possible benefit can you get from 5.5 fluid!
