Breaking a car, worth it?

Ive got the chance to buy a pearl black phase 1 with a snapped belt for £250 quid.

Its got a set of 5 standard F1s, Eibach springs, new rear discs come with the car. Bodywork is in pretty good nick so body parts should sell no bother.

Is there much morr money to be had from it than £250 quid?

Unless you have a lot of time then breaking is a little bit of a hassle. I would do it again though as I shifted my whole car in less than a month. CS is good for the juicy bits and ebay is best for achieving the best price on parts people don't want on here so much (parts used to repair crashes, bumpers, radiator and the small bits)

If I were you I'd still buy it. As you've got the knowledge to break a car then you could easily change the engine and make a quicker buck on an increasingly rare car.

Lots of people break cars on this forum and have incredibly messy threads which doesn't make it easy for them or the buyers. Price stuff realistically, throw the bits that are more trouble than they're worth for a fiver, and have a regularly updated list of whats available and whats sold.

I may be doing another one soon but time will tell.

People hate paying mental prices for postage which is understandable. Myhermes is great but you need to make sure everything is very securely wrapped, insure up to the full value. I bought 50m of bubble wrap from ebay and 2 rolls of shrink wrap. Did everything and I've only just run out 5 months later.

I'd do it, I've broke a fair few cars. Yeah I still have parts from each vehicle, but it helps with the spares package for my fleet.

Just expect some bits to be around for a couple of months.

I won't break another car. The actual car isn't the problem, it's the packaging and the volume of retards that secondhand spares attract.

I've do e it twice and I'll never do it again.

Would be far easier to shove another engine inside and sell it on, but I can't see a huge profit there.

Its got a CS sticker in the window, i had a quick search but couldnt find it.

It is a shame to break a black PH1 but as everyone knows they are worth more in parts etc.

Im going to give it a miss anyways, i wouldnt mind the exhaust off it though if anyone does buy it

Surely just selling the F1's would see your money back? Could always take the juicy bits off and just weigh the car for scrap?

I broke my old Vectra of most of it's parts, and then scrapped the rest. Made much more than just selling the vehicle.

I've broken 3 bikes in my time too. Again, much more money in them in parts than as a whole.

The only downside is I still have Vectra and SV650 parts in the garage.

Thats where you need to get to a point, where those parts you have left, don't really owe you any money, or its not worth the hassle, so bin them.

I still have Clio bits, but thats because I'm likely to find a use for them someday. I threw all the old parts from vehicles I broke (My old SV650 as it happens too), about 6months after I started.

At £250 it's an easy choice, you'll easily make some money on it, then as above, when sales slow just scrap what's left.

Aye it would be a good save if you were willing to do the work. Clean shell too, only marks are on the back bunper but i think they would polish out.

Im not 100% if its sold or not but fraser is interested now too haha

Done it, Id do it again. I just bin bits that don't sell, when I do this AlexW asks me with in 48hours for what I threw away.

It's easy to do, I broke the last car with out making a breaking thread.

If it was local to me I would've already got it for £250!

If your clever with postage is can be cheap, use the post office & you'll be eating into the profits.
