You have an S1000RR too?
No mate. Not yet. The wife says it's one or the other. She prefers the cup as I've got the shell and cage to protect me. Lol!
When you off to the Ring next? TF or closed event?
Not 100% sure when it'll be tbh mate. Not likely to be until next year though now. It'll be TF mate. Trackdays are just too expensive for me to justify and I prefer the TF. I like the mix of cars and bikes - makes it more of a challenge to get a good lap time in!

Proper job.

Love the attention to detail on this.
Cheers. Do it once, do it right is my way of going about things.

Done a bit more on the cup over the last couple of days. Adjusted a few bits and pieces so that the gen90 will now sit on top of the gearbox mount/battery tray. Still not 100% on keeping it here, but until I start laying out the new loom I'm not gonna know for sure.

Tight like a tiger in there!!

The oil cooler is now fitted and piped up as well. Again, it's all getting a bit close for space now, but there's enough space around it for me to be happy with the position of the pipes/fittings/cooler.

I'll be back in the garage tomorrow for the entire afternoon so should get some more done. Got the dog looking over what I'm doing now, so no cutting corners. Lol!

The new ecu plug pins will be with me on Monday so next week should see the loom starting to take shape. Then all that's left is refit the driveshafts, fill the engine and box up with oil, offer the exhaust up and weld on the v band flange + whatever else I notice in the mean time.

Most definitely, more to come!

Cor it is certainly tight in there!!
What are those covers on the oil cooler pipes? Any reason you didn't go for the braided hoses?
What covers are they mate? I didn't choose to go with braided hose because I don't like the stuff. It rubs through stuff and it's a bit of a wanker to make the pipes up.
This stuff is much easier! You only need a sharp blade to cut it, then it's just a case of pushing it on to the fitting.

I think he is thinking you've got an over braid covering your lines. I much prefer this Goodridge line to the steel braids as they're a b**ch to cut and tear up your hands.

Ah right ok. Yeah me too mate. I've had no choice but to use braided hose for the fuel line, but it runs under the car so it makes sense to use it. It'll more than likely get heat shrink applied to it though where it's on show in the engine bay.

So a few bits and pieces done again today. I've made a CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) template for the ecu mount. This will also combine as a support for the base of the airbox. I'll be taking a trip to see a mate to get the aluminium sheet needed for this next week.
So whilst doing a bit of this:

I thought it was time to do a bit of this:

This is the fun part! :up:I'll be making a start on the bastardisation next week. What you can see there is a 172 cup loom and a 197 loom. Both have been stripped of the pathetic attempt that Renault made of wrapping them and will be replaced with raychem.

Still plenty to do and lots of beer to drink.
More to come!

Dont bin all that good wire mate some good spares in there. Funnily I hate the braided hose covering too and avoided using it on my current build, on my previous car they chaffed the inside hose so not good.

The majority of the cup loom is fucked tbh mate. The constant heating up and cooling down does them no good and just makes them brittle.

I forgot to upload this earlier as well! Got an aerial shot! Lol!

You philistine Mark..a waste of good Jager lol

Thats a great pic, where does the loom become britle? At the front of the engine area?
I know but I've got a sweet tooth! It does stop you getting colds though. f**k ready brek - jägerbulls ftw!

Yeah it makes you realise just how big the airbox is doesn't it. The loom normally suffers in the areas where you get a lot of flex/engine movement mate. The plugs also get brittle as well.

It depends on the make of Plug Sonny but some can be as easy as using a small terminal screw driver where as others require a specific de-pin tool.

Is this on a standard ECU plug or an aftermarket 36-way?

How the hell do you know where to start with that lot it just looks like bright coloured spaghetti

Guessing... The Force... It's all good lol

At Donington on the 30th for an evening session if you fancy coming out for a few laps BTW

Yea once you have done it a few times its fairly easy. Any ideas how to remove the wire pins from the ecu plug?
If it's the standard ecu plug you lift yellow piece up and it comes off. That allows you access with a terminal tool. Lift the tab, then give the wire a gentle pull. Hey presto!
All the other plugs are just your standard junior timer/power timer plugs, other than a couple of oddballs like the plug for the
