Lol you were pushing the envelope then!!

I actually thought I was being really careful but apparently it was too much for a 535i on budget tyres in the wet lol.

Proper brown pants; thought I was going backwards into the barrier. We were going so slowly that we went backwards towards the curb and it didn't even have enough momentum to get up it, just bounced off it and stopped in the middle of the track lmao.

New laminova arrived today.
image.jpeg
This one has a 180mm long core. The old one was only 90mm, so it should bring the oil temps down significantly. I also opted for a forged 90 degree elbow and offset oil ports.

I'll order some 16mm hose ends for the old laminova so I can fit it in one of the other coolant lines in preparation for the gearbox cooler as well. No point dropping the coolant twice!!

The new laminova is all fitted now, but I might consider getting a custom aluminium bottom hose made up. Just the oil pipes to re-jig and fit.

More to come.

Time for another little update! The new laminova is all fitted and piped up, along with the 197 thermostat.

I've been accumulating a few other bits and pieces for a spot of gearbox insurance as well. I'm pretty sure that this will be a jc5 first on Cs as well?!?!
image.jpeg
What you can see here is my mocal oil pump along with some new ends for my original laminova, a 100 micron filter and a surface mount temperature switch.
image.jpeg
The new smaller ends will be going on to this and I'll be doing a cut and shut on one of the other coolant lines so I can use this as my gearbox oil cooler.
Finding a spot for the pump to live has been a bit of a challenge, but I've now decided on where it's going to be living.
image.jpeg
I'll make a bracket to mount it off the bulkhead so I don't have to support it with my hand and arm. Lol!

And finally, I've got another bonnet to de-skin. Mine has a crease in it from when I attacked it with my nibbler the first time around and it's always pissed me off, so I'll be be doing something a bit different with this one.

Big thanks to @masekwm for storing this!

More to come.

Yeah it was f**king loud in the dyno cell! Lol!
I'm afraid I dropped a bollock mate and booked a 'ring trip on the same weekend as CSF. I thought CSF was the following weekend. 😞

I'm not surprised, had to turn the speakers down!
Ahh that is a bit of a bollock dropper, was hoping for a nose around it . Make sure you get a few laps on camera

  Hi comp phase 1
Hi @NorthloopCup.. What sort of paint did you use ? I've read somewhere that it may help with the rattle...not that it matters when giving it the beans!

It's just vht engine enamel mate. After speaking with Nick at pms, the rattle is mainly caused by the shifter linkage at the box end. Use plenty of grease, and the rattle is reduced. Now I'm not driving it to Germany, I'm not worried about the rattle! Trailer ftw!!

That looks great Mark!

A PMS shifter is next on the cards for mine, and I've never been a fan of the zinc finish.

A colour like that would match my cage perfectly. Good shout!

Cheers mate! Yeah all the hubs I do are plated the same colour and I've never been a fan personally.

I've heard good things about the shifter, so it'll get its time to shine at the 'Ring, or it'll be moved on.

Just read through from the first post in one hit! Fantastically well thought out and engineered project, testament to your skill and philosophy for doing things the right way. Looking forward to getting our roll centre hubs and will be in touch shortly regarding engine and box plans.

Thanks for taking the time read the thread mate, and thanks for the kind words. I think it helps that I like to do things differently as well, but I also just enjoy f**king about with stuff! Lol! After the gearbox oil cooler and the pms shifter is installed, I'll be done. There's nothing else that I want to change/add or improve. Germany and the nordschliefe is looming, so it'll be time to drive the wheels off the little cup and finally enjoy the mods.
No problem mate. Speak soon.

Fittings arrived today for the gearbox oil cooler lines. Soon got those made and fitted, so now it's all systems go.

Tomorrows job is to prime the system and top the gear oil up.

Jobs left to do before the 'Ring is:
Raise the ride height 2 turns on the coilovers.
Roll the rear arches and adjust the front bumper for clearance.
Carry out some geometry adjustments/corrections.
Fit the pms shifter.

More to come.

'Well impressed' to say the least, I do like the oil and box cooling... ...tbf I'm loving the whole car, the attention to detail, engineering solutions and breaking from the norm is great. Looking forward to seeing the footage and maybe one of these days in the flesh too [emoji108]

Cheers mate. That's how I prefer it - different to everyone else! Yeah providing the weather is ok, there will be plenty of footage!!
