Brembo Max disks warping

  Racing Blue 182 Cup
I had a package fitted by Yozzasport about 9 months ago - Brembo Max disks, Pagid Blue pads, uprated fluid, braided lines.

I did Brands and Cadwell with absolutely no problems. I was doing 20-30 min sessions and braking hard all day and they were great-vitrually no fade.

I then went to Abingdon, an airfield day, and by lunch time the disks were vibrating under braking, even after a lap or 2. Once I did a cool down lap and a run up and down the airfield they were fine so no long term damage. The track does have a few big stops so is hard on the brakes but I thought it was strange that they faded so quickly.

My plan is to remove the fog lights and run some cold air to them next time, but has anyone else experienced this?

Oh, and a Ferrari F430 that was there had exactly the same problem!!

pagid blues eat discs for breakfast

Had some on my Scooby and did the same to my discs

You sure you did'nt leave on the brakes on standstill ? Or maybe the pads/brakes were sticking a bit to cause heating one part of disc ?

i warped some plain HC's with ds2500 but on the same track with same setup but HC MAX discs they were perfect.. Cold air should certainly help you i imagine, mine feel loads better.

cheers for the replies. i can't see plain disks being better than grooved. maybe the pads did stick when i parked up. i'll try some cold air and see how she does on the next track day :approve:

they're identical discs, just the max have grooves cut in them

TBH the grooves don't really make a difference on those discs

the race cars ran plain discs, that'll do me (and i'm cheap!)

that's interesting. they are quite a bit cheaper iirc. i may have to give them a try.

does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get rid of the deposits? unless it's easy i will probably just replace them with a new set of HCs up front. It will be a shame to waste some of the life in the disks though.

that's what i figured! don't know why it happened. i must not have bedded them in properly when they were fitted. :nono:

can happen if you sit with your foot on the pedal when the disks are really hot.

I've managed to resurect disks once when i had a terrible judder, i massively abused them and got them so hot they cleaned themselves up, then was a bit more careful to cool them down while still moving. not very scientific lol, but it worked

that was the other option i was thinking of-doing another day at Abingdon and seeing if they clear themselves up. I was a bit worried about doing damage to something else though!

pagid's aren't too bad on the discs, you should see what PF's do to them!!! haha

PF97's have near enough wiped the grooves off my Brembo Max disc's!!! :dapprove:

Only done 1 track day and 3000 road miles.. The grooves look like somebody has drawn them on with a pencil!! LOL

that's crazy! My Pagid Blue's have been awesome on track and aren't quite so hard on the disks-my Brembo Max have lasted 3 track days and 12,000 miles and there is still some depth to the groove.
