Hi mate yeah, really enjoying it. It's had a wash every week hence being so clean....long may it last. Just b4 seeing you I'd rinsed an '07 Audi S3 (whihc looked good in white), but been edged out by a 645i BM. They appear ot be very fast lol.

Not got round to many modifications yet, and can't say I've ever been through that long sweeping corner at quite that pace. Not appreciating the budget tyres on the front that the previous owner put on it. Can't moan though as cost 6500, with 36k on the clock.

Its surprising how quick the CS can be and sticks like s**t, hopefully if the weather holds out im giving mine a good clean 2morrow! Only mods i have is a panel filter and a inlet manifold match which is the best £150 I have spent! Got it done at APD www.ap-developments.com

  SchwepTek™
Scott, i was just looking at that on APD's website! Did you take it to Swansea and get them to do it all for you or just do a swap? Also, does it make much difference?

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
Hi Andy yea drove over to Swansea and got him to do it while I was there took about 3 hours but if he has them in stock he will take yours out and put one in, I went expecting little differecne as I couldnt think a mod for just polishing out the inlet manifold would be that different but I was impressed you know the kick you get around 5000 rpm it is smoothed out a bit and the power starts earlier! If you ever want to come round and take mine out for a spin your more than welcome if your intrested in having it done but wanna see it first!

  SchwepTek™
That would be cool cheers mate. I'll give you a shout when i have some spare cash to actually afford having it done LOL! Hopefully have a look at a meet too! Where were you yesterday eh? haha. Coming to airfield meet on next weekend?

Would be interesting to see how it behaves with my exhaust and decat because i dont have a 5k kick anymore!!! :(

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
Yea any time! did the exhaust and decat make a difference to the power? as i put a SS exhaust on my old car a Astra 2.2 Sri and it made no difference at all just sounded better! Working in retail kills the social life all these late nights and working weekends! cant make it to the airfield working :-( But made sure I have got the coombe weekend booked off not brave enough yet to go out on track have to see how it goes!

  SchwepTek™
Yeh same lol! I cant really tell TBH  Its removed the 5k kick and its alot smoother through the revs. Throttle response seems better too but as for power i couldnt tell you! Its being Rollingroaded next week but wont have anything to previously compare it to.

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
lol, dont know if its true but be prepared for a shock think it was Paul at APD i was chatting 2 and he says even though they are 182bhp, at the wheels some have been as low as 155/160bhp when put on a rolling road cant understand that? Be intresting to find out what your comes out at as I dont know anyone who has had a CS rolling roaded

My 182 only has a Viper kit and nothing else done to it, think your 182 just slightly had the edge, but it's possible if you've had yours longer that you were getting on the power earlier.

Be interested to see what difference that manifold has had on your car - my next plan was de-cat, exhaust and re-map from k-tech, and then cams when I can afford it (not anytime soon!).

Thought the brakes were awesome but gave them a bit of a test tonight and they're not quite as awesome as I thought.

Intending to go out on coombe for one session in April, although thinking I'd like to go mix it with loads of different cars, rather then with loads of similar Clios. Got a mate taking his nr 3000bhp Scoob out, and met a guy with a 2 litre turbo Astra gte the other day that appears ot be a bit of a track weapin (currently 260bhp, but being remapped to 320).

The 182 is only meant to be 179 bhp (182 ps) isn't it to start with? Most front wheel drive cars lose 20/20 bhp through the drivetrain so the wheel bhp is always lower then the flywheel quoted manufacturer figures too.

Sorry, I can be a bit of an anorak when I put my mind to car stuff. Had some varied cars so far, and the first (Focus 1.8 zetec) I had Unichipped and rolling roaded, it's amazing how little power a 1.8 can put out with an exhaust, filter and remap (127bhp)!

Best just to get a better car with more tuning potential I feel. Mi16 205 Gti was awesome, then a kit car with twin 45's was good, Saxo Vts not bad for the money, but 182 looks like it could be good choice - loving it so far, apart from fuel consumption (average of 23mpg doesn't seem special).

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
They say you learn something new every day! Yea dont know if it was the manifold giving me the slight edge or what! But did feel a difference when I drove it home from having it done! Not sure if I am going 2 do anything else 2 mine as next year wanna chop mine in for a Megane Sport as i do miss having a bigger car

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
23mpg that does seem low I drive mine fairly hard every day and I average 28-31mpg and get 270-300miles on a tank!

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
Might be the manifold, or maybe the Viper is restrictive, but I like the noise it makes!

Been making a few changes in the 3 weeks I've had it - put in Piaa side lights bulbs that are white instead of the standard yellow, painted all the brake calipers, sub/amp in, Viper kit, sprayed the engine cover arctic blue today to match the rest of the car, and changed the gearknob for a metal one. Next up is some serious saving for an exhaust/de-cat/re-map.

I thought the cup suspension on my car was good to start with, but as ever I'm beginning to think maybe some stiffer springs might be a plan, I'm a nightmare. My saxo ended up on Koni adjustables which make the Clio feel a bit big and wayward. The big steering wheel doesn't help, but not keen on changin it as the cruise control is on it, and don't feel the need to lose it.

Do the Bristol Clio owners ever meet up in the area at a pub or anything?

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
I have to admit the novelty of the 2 litre engine hasn't worn off yet, and I'm a bit hard on cars/throttle pedals. On the motorway on the way back from buying the car I averaged 42mpg, but since then around 23 seems to be the best I manage. Oops. Better then my kit car at least I suppose which only did about 14.

  F1 R26 #1939 265BHP
I have always looked at mods and wondered shall I but I have never liked buying something that I cant test first as I dont want it to be a waste! Yea do meet up now and then was over cribbs a few weeks ago and done a few kebab runs! Make sure your put on the mailing list!

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
I pm'd schweppy as you suggested to get put on the mailing list.

You've got to take a chance with modifications sometimes and just go for it it. Nothing ventured and all that....

I looked at the Civic type R and the 182 but I prefer smaller hatches - the opposite to you obviously! I found that although both cars are near identical in performance that the type r felt slower as it was a bigger car, and that's no good for me - like to feel a bit of speed. The Clio still feels less like you are about to die in a huge fireball like the Mi16 did. Was kind of exciting!

You are on the list now Joe. Justin and myself will keep you informed about all of the meets. There are 2 this weekend. Rolling Road Day on saturday and Airfield meet on Sunday. Theres also a castle combe meet in April. We will be having a weston meet soon and probably some bristol based kebab/pub runs! :)

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
Can't make the saturday as got some boring revsion day with work for a Diploma I'm doing. Yuk. Where's the airfield day - if there some thread about it I'm missing somewhere not being very good on computers?

Def going to be at the coombe action day and weston sounds a plan too. Cheers.

The airfield is possibly the best place to put a new car through its paces imo, you are the only one out there during your session, so very little to worry about.
