I'll probably be installing PC-BSD over the weekend (downloading now) so I'll post back on how things go, just in case anyone is even remotely interested
Well, after a dodgy start (had to change AGP aperture size to 128mb) that had me puzzled for a fair while, things are now doing ok.
PC-BSD is an absolute doddle to install as is extra software.
The easy way to install extra software is by using the pbi packages, which are a simple double click and follow the install wizard, much like windows.
The system is noticebly faster than Linux, in startup, running and shutdown.
The only thing I am currently having issues is my Audigy 2 ZS. It appears it's using the correct driver but I have no sound.
I think next time I'll try it with an SB Live card. It's just a shame I gave my spare to my mrs's dad else I could have tried. Only other one I have is in the mrs's machine heh
