Buying 182 - Advice needed

Maybe this has been discussed before but since I cannot find a definitive answer, I am throwing it out in the open again.

Thinking of ordering my 182 from this company "SCI Direct", as they seemed to have offered me the best price so far. Coming in at £12,494 with Cup suspension & Spoiler and Met. Paint (thus beating UKCarbroker and Clickcarss already excellent price).

So was wondering if any of you had dealt with them before and what was the experience like?

Any other suggestions are welcomed too!

Thanks,
Ed

does that matter if its pre-registered?
depends whether you want to be the first owner of the car on the V5c? when you come to sell it you will be the second owner, thats the only difference.

but does that really matter if the cars had two owners? Doesnt bother me, plus its a saving of over £2k.

When I went to reno the salesman said they only make £800 on the car!

Well I got well over £2k off mine (Cup) and that was from a Renault dealer...

Well, dont think Id be bothered too. Like boyced, the amount that I am saving far out weights the piece of paper that said the car having 2 owners.

So back to my question, any views on SCI Direct then ? I take it only mxfuk has enquired about them before?

Suppose it depends on the dealers and the quantity of cars that they sell as to what discount they give. The local fanchised dealer that services my 172 doesnt sell renaultsport cars at all or the espace!!! I have never bought a car off my local dealer as they have never been able to match the price offered else were. There service does happen to be the best around though.

Ive never heard of SCI direct. Suppose it will depend on how confident you feel with them after enquirys.

Just spoke to SCI on the phone, a guy called Charles Wheeler and he sounded very reassuring (very good salesman I hear some of you say in the background!), and he explained clearly what every step of the process involved.

If you decided to go ahead, £395 booking fee is charged by SCI, before they call Renault to find out the availability of your specific model (This amount is already included in the 21% discounted price, so he claims). They then forward my details across to the dealer.

Then £500 will be taken by the Renault main dealer as a deposit to secure this order, from this point on, he said the dealership will contact & deal with me directly, re finance options, inspecting the car on arrival, picking up etc.

Must admit was a bit sceptical at first, but he assured me that, in the unlikely event, that the dealer has ordered the car and I pulled out, both the fees would be refunded. Hes gonna find out how long mine will take if I ordered today.

So boyced, you tempted? I know I am. Give them a call to get a feel for things!

Now, with the money saved, should I go for that cd-changer…

Im really tempted, at that price. I was thinking of getting a 2002 mk2 172 for around 9k, but for just over 12k I can get a box fresh 182. Bargin.

Just need to wait till September till my I get 2NCD. 23 with 2 NCD its £850 full comp. Got quoted £1300 at the moment.

I have just paid £13,000 includes met paint, Cup spoiler, and Cup suspension. If you go through a dealer at least you will have piece of mind, dunno these other places seem dodgy

Thanks Dave.

Just out of interest, do you know what make is the stock cd-changer?

Not really an ICE man personally, so any information would be useful. Will do separate posting in the ICE thread also, but thought ask hear since we are on the subject.

sound like a good deal.

get a written quote before you hand over your cash.

that way they cant change the price at any time.

make sure they dont add that £395 on top of the quoted price.

im paying £12,500 at clickcars geting mine 7th or 14th of april.

by the way the cd changer in the 182 is alpine so dave tells me.

dont spend £300 :eek:on it from renault you can pick one up on ebay for less than £100.:D

or direct from vdo for £180.;)

good luck
