Just spoke to SCI on the phone, a guy called Charles Wheeler and he sounded very reassuring (very good salesman I hear some of you say in the background!), and he explained clearly what every step of the process involved.
If you decided to go ahead, £395 booking fee is charged by SCI, before they call Renault to find out the availability of your specific model (This amount is already included in the 21% discounted price, so he claims). They then forward my details across to the dealer.
Then £500 will be taken by the Renault main dealer as a deposit to secure this order, from this point on, he said the dealership will contact & deal with me directly, re finance options, inspecting the car on arrival, picking up etc.
Must admit was a bit sceptical at first, but he assured me that, in the unlikely event, that the dealer has ordered the car and I pulled out, both the fees would be refunded. Hes gonna find out how long mine will take if I ordered today.
So boyced, you tempted? I know I am. Give them a call to get a feel for things!
Now, with the money saved, should I go for that cd-changer…
