Buying a Short Shifter

Just a quick word on the B&M, when fitted you will find that the gear lever sits a hell of alot lower and can become a bit of a problem when changing as you have to reach for it.

BB Tuning do a quickshift which sits the same height as the standard gear lever but has a reuduced throw as the B&M. Both kits are excellant, and very well made, just a shame that all the posh bits are hidden under the centre console.

Does a short shifter not bugger the gear box up though? I was looking at getting one but got told it puts alot of strain on the gearbox or something? Thats what put me off the idea.

I dont really see how it can do any major damage, the sychros wont select another cog until they are both spinning at the same speed anyway. I suppose it could put extra strain on the synchros, but probably no more so than a normal ham fisted shift?

it just reduces the throw of the level, by setting the pivot point higher, or lowering the level of the stick.

The only extra strain it puts on is your arm, and maybe a little on the linkage itself.

Wont hurt the gearbox at all.

TAS ones are very popular on Saxo's, shame they dont make one for the clio!

Is the BBPT one not listed on the site? I can't seem to find it. I'm interested in one or the B&M. How much can both be had for?

i had one on my cup and the gear response was excellent and defo made a difference when powering down the tarmac but its bloody cold in winter lol i am interested in one of these to any links to the bb performance one which would everyone say is the better?

Waste of money - dont help gear changes at all - save your money...........Fred just likes the feeling of a big chrome knob in his hands
