Calum's Monaco 172 hillclimb/sprint project

Thought I would start a built thread on my Clio which over this winter I will be getting it ready to take part in sprints and hillclimbs. I will be building the car the race in the A2 class which a few of my friends already race in.

It all came about after going to watch my friends race one weekend and thought I would love to give this a go.

4 days later I had bought a Clio via this site. I bought a really well maintained Manaco Blue ph2 172 from @bangybear who before him was ownered by @MarcR™

The car came with plenty of reciepts one of which was for £1600 worth of work done to the car, ranging from belts and dephaser change, alternator, radiator to name a few. Just the kind of car I was after.

I haven't really got a plan set out for what will get done to clio yet but have some ideas. Wheels and tyres will be a must also so will buckets and harnessses.

The car has had a few little things done to it before I bought it such as eibach springs, dog bone mount, snappy re trimmed wheel and a set of turini's

I will try and keep this up to date as much as I can.

Here is a few picture of when I went to see it and the drive packed with all the cars once I took it home.

My Wee Car.

I was offered it back but I'm more than happy with the Megane. Its a shame you are going to strip it and use it for hill climbs.
Its a perfect wee car and went like the wind & mechanically there was not a thing wrong with it when I sold it.

Yeh I know when I took it home and folk saw it everyone said it's to good to race.

On honeymoon at the moment so it's giving me plenty time to plan and research parts. Ordered a few little things which should be here by the time I get home. Tow straps, timing bracket, omp rear brace that was cheap on here, skoda fabia splitter and a set of josh gault cruise control button for when I buy an omp targa wheel.

Seats are the next thing to find, like the look of the micro seats, friend has them in his so will try them out before I buy a set.

Ah if only I had somewhere to store it I would have kept it but needed something a bit bigger as wife is with child....

At least it's off to a good home and will get some good proper use over the next while as it still pulls like a train Enjoy

Seats wise and the comfiest I have ever had are my current seats, and all those that have been in the car will agree with how comfy they are.
