Cambelt + Aux Belt Change Phase 2 172

  Hondata'd EP3 Type R
Hi, My friend has a 172 and it needs the Aux Belt and Cam belt changing. After a bit of searching, I take it a special tool is required and you cannot just get it done at a local garage? Is this correct?

Also how much are we talking for parts and labour for a job like this?

My friends based in Birmingham does anyone know of any where who can do this if a specialist tool is required for a decent price?

Thanks In Advance

How much do you charge fred to do the whole job?

What tools are required? I take it you do need specialist tools then?

renault quote over £550 when i checked, a non dealer might do it for around the £250/£300 mark if you supply the tools if they dont have them. MAKE SURE they do as their required.

best bet is maby to nip into the workshop at renault and ask 1 of the RTE techs if they fancy a homer

the cambelt kit is £150+vat
the auxbelt kit is £107+vat
the core plugs are £11ish

plus 5hours labour (less if you're good ;))

Another thing, Whats the difference between the aux belt and aux belt kit? One is £20 and one is £120 do you need the kit or can u just buy the belt

G whizzz, all those prices are expensive! my local Renault dealer "Charles Hurst" have a big banner out the front advertising a cambelt change including fitting for just £99! It doesnt state any conditions...i.e. type of cars its limited to...if any! though I guess if you went in and they told you it would cost more for your model of car then you could hit them with false advertising!

has anyone else noticed any official renault dealers offering this?
