Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

Managers talk shite ! Common knowledge ! And most of them were ex mechanics , reason they became managers ???? Because they were shite at mechanics !

Ive worked on cars for 7 years now , in the trade everyday never heard such rubbish , any rubber deteriorates and will fail , it's no money making scheme , proved by how many put on here my belt has snapped !

Isn't Renault recommended oil change interval every 12k, hence why so many people's dephaser makes the car sound like a tractor ;)

This places IQ is dropping by the day.

We'll soon be naming it Speshialsport.net and the area meets will be at the local ELC shop to use their stock of crayons.

Yes. A Poorly maintained car will show this. A well maintained car won`t. My mate has been a regional manager for Renault for years he has seen it all.

What's he called? And what region does he cover?

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

A guy at Renault said you can run a petrol car on diesel if you want, and vice versa, the only reason they label them as petrol and diesel is to fool some people into thinking their car is sportier/more economical.

Also said the engine runs best with half a tank of sugar.

That's true we put sugar in my mates fuel tank on his moped and it still ran, for about 3 days then it crystallised and was scrap :)

No Not at all But a Cambelt change Has a very high cost to it. And they are all good garages that do the job but It needs to be done if there is any doubt on the history of the car. :)

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

The manager of my local Renault dealer told me that my penis is 11 inches long and that I should always brush my teeth with cockerel feathers. He went on to add that you can cut a makeshift cambelt out of old Wellington boot!

Yeah we all know how much it can cost, ta. That would not stop the Sport owners getting a belt replaced when it the car needs it.

Oh, they also told me that I should always drive the car as hard as possible from cold, bouncing it off the limiter in order to get the engine up to temperature quickly.

Does that halfspoon stuff give you a better power to weight ratio?

Yeah, mix it in with a few eggs and iron filings then pour it in through the oil filler cap. A manager at Renault told me that one.

In reality that would not hurt a good modern engine. But I am sure you will believe the myth that it will. Like the cambelt age issue.

Did you know rust is a myth? Metal doesn't really corrode its just these body shops etc are all thirsty for the money in your wallet.

I think everyone is implying you should just stop talking as apparently the large number of specialists on here are all wrong. I bet some on here have changed more cambelt than you have had hot dinners. People do this s**t daily...

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

If you get any bent valves, just put them in a vice and use a bending spring. Good as new, pointless buying new. Mmm this window is strawberry flavour.

Flol, I have actually heard of a tech being made to use valves that had been straightened. Funnily enough a head dropped off on road test.
