How much is this roughly on the 172/182/vee from a renault garage and from an independent garage?

hi mate gordon lamb quoted me nearly 500 for the full cambelt change etc plus obviously the service on top .............quality eh?????????? does anyone know how much the parts are for a job like this is it just labour that makes it expensive...if you had new cams fitted would you need this service doing as well

£180 here, parts only come to around 90 note, rest is labour, for a 172 btw. not sure about the others.

v6 with all tensioners and idlers...aux belt and water pump....£950.00

172 would be @ £265.00 + vat fitted (inc aux belt..)

A Piper cam is a camshaft when you change the camshaft you might or should replace the cambelt since its off anyway.

I paid £350 from Renault Leicester with a bit of discount. As said above, most of the cost is labour - they had my car for 2 days!

Had mine done a few months ago, they did the cam belt and auxilliary belt for £450, it can be done for about £350 by a dealership, and less by an independent but I suppose it depends on how much you trust the person under the bonnet, and a non genuine dealer may not fit renault parts which may invalidate a warranty.
