i've seen 1 map sensor fail in 10years, highly unlikley IMO

so what do you reccon could be the issue here then Fred? im just worried its going to brake down on the way to work etc as its a busy road that i cant brake down on,

Sounds like an ignition fault to me, the big bang he described sounds like a large backfire, almost as if its stopped firing the plugs for a second or so and then all of a sudden started again.

There may even have been flames for the people following to admire

Ignition failure? Never heard of it tbh, whats most likely to be the cause then? bare in mind plugs leads etc are just shy/above 6months old,

Which coil pack is on the car? Original or your spare one?

Its the spare one which came with the engine, but when it first happend it was the new one
