  Meg 230 f1
I want to upgrade my cams but aint sure what company to go with. i know the gdi kit is about 1500 quid but i already have the k-tec grounp n re-map, and k-tec i am looking at around the grand mark for labour and cams.

Has any1 had either or which company does every1 think

thanks greg

as gary said above, you will still need it mapping after fitting the cams.
otherwise there would not really be any point in fitting the cams.

think im going for the same kit too as soon as i have the money.

you'll need another remap once the cams are on.
As for the parts themselves. Cat, Schrick, Ktec, kent
loads to choose from. I'm planning on getting schricks. As far as i can work out, they are all £650-700 for a set (parts only). High price due to the variable valve timing on the F4R i'm thinkin, although i'm new to this engine.

The only good thing where wallets are concerned is you dont need new followers or springs as the standard will be fine even with some pretty dirty cams

car needs to be remapped

i had a customer that installed Schrick cams supplied by me (then i was at yozzasport)

the car already had a remap by a "big name" company (prior to cam installation) and the car was found to be running very lean at high rpm (the map was spot on prior to cam install)

when you add cams to an engine you're getting more air in, so a "grpN" remap (any remap infact) is useless , the car will have to be remapped for the full effect

That is exactly what happened to me. My car is remapped by Henk from FASTCHIP. Results are awesome. I am using C&B cams by the way.

Fred you would not beleive that Knock correction was around 4.5 previously which was dangerously high.

With my new map I never see values exceeding 2.25.

Stick with GDI mate as I can say hoe good GDI are as I have now used them for a second time and my car is there now getting more work done as I type this.

I have used both companies and from my personal experiences GDI know alot more about engine tuning compared to K tec racing. Don't get me wrong K tec are a good company to have stored in your phone when you want parts, but GDI are no1 choice for me.

This is what I have ordered from K tec Racing:-
Cross drilled discs all round inc pads
Stainless steel hoses
Engine cover and ITG Maxogen kit
Polybushes
steering wheel boss kit
Koncept rear spoiler

K tec service over phone is very good, however their delivery service is apalling! For the discs and pads I was told they were in stock, paid for them and 4 days later still not arrived so phoned them and told that they wernt in stock. No problem with the brake hoses and they even came next day. ITG Maxogen had a missing screw, but prob down to ITG. Polybush kit for anti roll bar was complete, however the bushes for bottom arms was the wrong kit and arrived 3 days late, Sterring wheel boss kit 4 days late, Koncept rear spoiler got sent to wrong depot and had to go pick it up myself on a Saturday.

GDI - Last time I went there I had an Omex 600 fitted and Andy couldn't of been more helpful and he even phoned me to make sure I got home ok as I live over 3 hrs away, how about that for customer service?

Had no issues with GDI whatsoever, even Bec (his GF) very helpful everytime I get in touch. This time I am having 182 manifold and cat converter done and a few other bit n pieces had a bit of anissue with a member of GDI getting back to me. I put a post up on here to say about customer service and within an hr or so he phoned me to ask what went on and apologised and said to contact him for anything specific I might need.

All in all GDI have given me a better all round service and seem to be that GDI are well ahead of K tec in terms of tuning. K tec are starting to sell Jenvey TB's, ask yourself how long have GDI been selling them and how much experience they have fitting them??

Sorry for the long reply
