Can you use the original rear wheel beraings with new discs?

If I change the rear discs on my 172 do I need to buy new wheel bearings or can the originals be pushed out of the disc and then used again in the new discs?

yes, but imo wasting your time, just imagine doin all that work ,for the bearing to fail a few weeks later. pointless imo, i got new ones fitted

Nice 1 Lunner

Hiya Fred - been tryin to pm you but your box is full - are those upgraded discs or just standard - want to get some nice looking ones that dont rust as bad as OE. Do you do front upgrades as well
the reason I was Pm'ing you was to find out your opinion of Spax coilovers - I know there are fixed height at the rear but other than that do you have any other issues with them - can get a full set off my mate that works for Spax for £350 as opposed to £550+ in shops

Do you have to replace bearing with new discs? i've just fitted 2 new front discs but didnt change the bearings

no vinny the fronts are fine - I would not bother - its only that the rear discs have the bearings pressed into them so have to messed about with to fit new discs.

Reno discs come wiht the bearings pressed in.

You can keep the orignal bearings but its one of those thigns you may as well do while they are off the car

Brought some EBC turbo grooved and drilled discs and EBC Greenstuff, they are good, still running them in so i havent been braking too hard, they are good thought imo, they are as good as my previous set i had on before which were the mintex which are highly praised on here

Oh they squeaked for a bit but it has gone now, lasted about 150-200 miles the squeaking

dont worry vinny - I am just as interested in the front as the rear - its just that this thread started off about rears but i would put the same on the front as the back anyway.

you're best leaving the standard discs on the rear to be honest, for all the braking they actually do.

Front bearings are in the hub carrier, rear bearings are on the disc - which is what makes the discs so expensive, the design.

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
^ yoz2asport kit, if not you could just use oem discs with an uprated pad, all depends on your use of the car

What size socket do i need for the hub nut on the rear of a MK2 172 and is the abs ring separate or attached to the rear disc ?
